Upon waking up that morning Kazumi had expected to smell burning breakfast and to hear her mother cursing loudly followed by the sounds of the fire alarm going off. That was the norm for Sunday mornings, but this Sunday was quite obviously different. First of all, there was no smell of burning breakfast. Second, the house was completely silent. There wasn't even the soft sounds of her mother getting ready for work like every other day of the week. This meant that either her mother was asleep still, which she doubted, or she had gone to work on her only day off. That wouldn't have surprised her any since her mother was a workaholic. Kazumi rested her arms behind her head and smiled up at her white ceiling before finally rolling herself off her giant bed and opening her closet. Her smile turned into a frown as she remembered her mother's brilliant idea to switch all of her jeans with shorts and skirts. Damn her.
She pulled on her longest pair of shorts, which reached to her mid-thigh. These aren't very long, Kazumi thought as she pulled a light tank top over her head. Making sure she had her wallet and phone, the short haired teenager ran outside, not wanting to stay inside since her mother wasn't there to keep her inside. But where to go? The beach was bound to be busy, as was that water park owned by the Ootori family, not that she would go there willing in the first place. The only place she could think of was the mall or the park, and frankly, she was up for spending her money. Kazumi needed some new pants, hopefully ones that her mother wouldn't find out about and then hide until fall came along.
Running her hands through her short black hair, Kazumi walked down the sidewalk and towards the mall. She never drove anywhere, seeing as how she lived smack dab in the middle of Tokyo and was within walking distance of pretty much everything. Getting to the mall, it was then that she realized she had to eat and her stomach let out a small, low growl. "Oh my, I should get something to eat first," she said aloud, ignoring the odd looks from the people who passed her by. After all, not everyone spoke to themselves while walking around in public.
The mall, at the moment, was nearly empty and the only people who were wandering around were older couples. There was only one place open that sold food and it was technically a smoothie stand. Ordering a strawberry smoothie and a cinnamon roll, Kazumi turned around and made her way towards an open table, but just as she was setting her smoothie down someone brushed against her, almost making her drop the smoothie. She turned her head and recognized a girl from school, a scowl coming over her face. "I guess it's too difficult to watch where you're walking these days," she grumbled, plopping herself down in the chair, once again trying to pull her shorts down.

Turn it inside out so I can see the part of you that’s drifting over me I forever walk alone. All I desire is a friend....but perhaps even more?~ Arthur P. Samuel
When I wake your never there and when I sleep you’re everywhere The union jack themed alarm clock sounded off beside his lacquered oak desk, causing a weak hand to reach out from beneath a set of plain black covers. They felt around for the alarm clock, casually at first but became more frantic.
"Bloody hell...."Arthur murmured sleepily,"Where the devil is that thing....?"
He finally removed the covers from his upper body, glanced over to the wretched alarm clock with his sleepy green eyes, snatched it and finally managed to shut the alarm off. With a heavy sigh of relief, he placed the clock back onto his desk and began to rub his eyes sleepily.
"I truly detest that absurd device..."he muttered as he ran his fingers through his bright red hair
He wiggled his feet in unison, feeling a lump of some sort at the foot of his bed. As he looked he saw an orange blur the size of a bowling ball. He grabbed his glasses from his desk, placed them on and took another look to see that the orange blur was his fat orange tabby, Artemis.
"Good morning, you ruddy little fluff ball."he said with a smile
The bed shook as something heavy jumped onto the bed. If the thing had not made its presence clear then, it certainly did when it poked Arthur into the side of the arm with its wet nose.
Arthur glanced over, and patted the head of his faithful black and white border collie, Sparky.
With a chuckle Arthur said,"Same to you, little brother."
From that point Arthur got up from his bed, and made his way to the shower. He made it quick though, for he had a few errands that he had to run. Though it was the weekend, he certainly had no time for fun.
He came out, and made his way to his closet, where he placed on a fresh pair of black jeans followed by his favorite black vest. He then pulled a comb from the pocket of the jeans and neatly combed his hair while he moved over to his desk.
As he parted his hair in the middle, he looked at the rather messy desk that was cluttered with pieces of scrap and wires. He knew he had to clean it, but he felt that he would do it later in the day.
Upon the chair in front of his desk, lay a white lab coat. He quickly grabbed it and placed it on his person, reached into the pockets and pulled out a pair of felt line gloves. He never left the house with those gloves, for the world outside was filthy.
He was about to head out of his room and make his way down the stairs of his house, when he looked over to his bed and saw Sparky standing there with a curious look on his face, while Artemis lay on top of the dog's back and glanced at Arthur with a pair of sleepy eyes.
"Sorry mates, but I'm afraid I cannot take you for a walk today."he answered as if reading the minds of his animal friends,"I'll be back as soon as possible."
He made his way down stairs, and turned left to the door where upon the knob rested his golden handled, black oak cane. He grabbed it, and turned the knob; he walked out with said cane, leaning on it with his right hand firmly gripped on the handle.
Many of the students at school believed that Arthur needed that cane for one of his legs, but in actuality Arthur kept the cane because it was a treasured memento passed down through generations of his family, leading all the way back to Arthur P. Samuel the first. He only leaned on it because it helped him think as he walked.
"I need to head for that radio store in the mall,"he reminded himself mentally,"They're about the only place that seems to have adequate parts aside from that repulsive junk yard...."
It didn't take long for him to reach the mall, as it was down the street from his house. Once inside, even though it was not so crowded, Arthur was immediately annoyed by the chatting of nearby people.
"Stay calm lad..." he told himself,"Let's just head for the radio store, and get out of their as quick as a fox."
He was about to, when he noticed a little smoothie stand off to his right, which made his stomach grumble in a most disagreeable way.
"I suppose a little detour can be arranged..."he muttered as he made his way past the older couples around him
He purchased a cinnamon roll along with a lemon flavored smoothie, and headed to a nearby table. He placed his breakfast upon the table, somehow not noticing the young girl already sitting their, and sat in one of the chairs.
He remained oblivious about Kazumi's presence thanks to the way his chair was facing to a less concentrated area of people, allowing him to gaze into space in order to keep his mind focused on the task that lay after breakfast.

Kazumi pulled apart the cinnamon roll slowly, eating it as she watched people walk by, talking with their friends and carrying mass amounts of bags from shops they had gone into. It always seemed ridiculous to her that people could buy that much within one day. And they spent a ton of money on clothes that they didn't even need and half the time they didn't even wear half of the things that he bought. They had money, they were allowed to spend it, therefore they bought everything that looked even remotely interesting to the eye. She found it rather...odd, for lack of a better word, and it was always obvious which of the people in the mall had the money and which didn't have money. Those without money merely came to the mall so that they could hang out with their friends outside of school.
She was slightly surprised at how many people from Ouran she saw. After all, they had money and most of them enjoyed buying designer clothing from out of country places. Two girls passed by the table she was sitting at, whispering something about a man and a lab coat, glancing over their shoulders and then giggling behind their hands, only to look back once again. Kazumi raised an eyebrow, wondering what the hell they were talking about and turning her head, her brown eyes looking around at the other people in the mall. She didn't see anyone fitting the description, not at first, and she shrugged it off, thinking that it was merely some sort of thing that they had seen in some television show or something.
Looking down again, she pulled apart more of her cinnamon roll, a slight grimace on her face. She wasn't fond of overly sweet things and it seemed that the cinnamon roll was very sweet. Pulling her smoothie towards her, Kazumi saw someone sit down at the table with her and she slowly looked up, blinking multiple times. He seemed completely unaware of her presence, or maybe he was and he was only ignoring her. There was a scowl on her face at the thought, but she shook her head slightly, running a hand through her short black hair before leaning back in her chair, arms crossed under her chest. She took a moment to study him before picking her drink up again, taking a loud sip and setting it down with a slight "thunk".
That was her way of making her presence known, no matter how annoying or rude it may have been. After all, wasn't sitting at a table without seeing if anyone else was there just as rude? Clearing her throat slightly, Kazumi spoke up, "excuse me, but I can help you with something? Or do you normally make a habit of sitting without looking?" She was well aware of how rude she was being, but it wasn't as if she was all that worried about first impressions since the majority of people didn't like her in the first place.

Turn it inside out so I can see the part of you that’s drifting over me I forever walk alone. All I desire is a friend and nothing more~ Arthur P. Samuel
When I wake your never there and when I sleep you’re everywhere Pulling apart the peices of his cinnamon bun, Arthur was in his own little world. Everything around him was a blur, and all noises became muffled by the inner workings of his mind.
A slight vibration from the table he was sitting at was soon felt, but this did not alarm him at all. However he felt peculiar at the sound and aggitated tone of one muffled voice coming from behind.
As he turned he saw a young girl close to his age with short black hair, and wearing a pair of shorts and a tank top. The expression on her face was not so pleasent.
Arthur was quickly startled by the sudden realization of the girl's presence, which made him lose his balance and fall to the floor below; the floor which was covered with dust, fallen crumbs from the people that had previously eaten their with tiny drops of saliva on the small but noticeble peices of food. Fear was in his heart, and his skin began to crawl.
He sprang to his feet, hyperventilating as he frantically reached into his pocket for a squirtable thing of rubbing alcohol. Squirting some onto his gloves, he quickly rubbed the alcohol frantically onto pale, frightened face.
After that, he was calm, but fueled by anger. He turned to confront the girl, whom he just realised was actually quite beautiful, even cute despite the aggitated look on her face.
The young man began to blush at the sight of the girl, but quickly shook the feeling off as he remembered her verbally attacking him and causing himself to fell to the ground on top of a bed full of germs.
Placing the container in his pocket, he picked up his cane, pointed it at the girl and said,"Now see here! There's absolutely no reason to attack me simply for eating breakfast at a table. Besides, I have yet to see a sign that says that your table is reserved."
He sat down so that he could get little closer to the girl in order for him to lower the tone of his voice. He quickly added with,"In addition to this, I don't see a bloody good reason to make me fall to that....germ infested floor!"
The mere thought of the germs still made his skin crawl. But at the same time he was sure he had seen the girl somewhere before, perhaps at his school? Regardless, he was angry at this injustice and he aimed to rectify the situation.

Whoever he was, he didn't seem to even notice when she set her smoothie down on the table, but his head turned towards her when she cleared her throat. The annoyance in her tone matched the annoyance on her face, and she expected some kind of reaction from him, though she wasn't quite expecting his reaction. Usually people gave a smart remark at her annoyance or walked away, throwing her evil looks. Never before had she ever seen someone fall off their chair, nor had she ever seen them nearly have a heart attack upon falling on said floor. The boy jumped so quickly that she was sure he could have flown if he had wings. And look he gave her, it was as if it was her fault.
As he sprang to his feet Kazumi watched him pull out a bottle and squirt over his hands. And then she had to do a double take. The man was wearing gloves and he was squirting what looked like hand sanitizer into his gloved hands, at least she thought it was sanitizer. Hell if she knew. But she thought that things couldn't get any weirder, yet they did. Go figure. He rounded on her suddenly, an angry look in his eyes, and she leaned back slightly, her eyebrow cocked, when he pointed his cane at her. Why does he have a cane when he obviously doesn't need to use it? Kazumi asked herself. Of course, if he didn't put it down then it was going to be used for more than just decoration. As he began accusing Kazumi for making him fall a dark look over came her features and she waited for him to finish.
She ignored the odd looks that people were giving the two of them and tapped her fingers against her arm slowly. When he finally put his cane down and sat she felt a mix of relief that he was done yelling, but slight sadness since she was really looking forward to hitting him with it. His voice lowered as he sat down and Kazumi straightened, placing her elbows on the table and looking at, a cold look in her eyes. "I think we should get a couple of things straight. First would be, it is in no way my fault that you're so jumpy you fell on the 'germ infested floor'," Kazumi stated, using finger quotes as she repeated part of his own statement. "As far as I remember I didn't physically attack you, so your falling was merely a side-effect of your damn stupidity."
Kazumi took a moment for this to sink in before once again leaning back, her hands resting on the table. "And the fact that I'm sitting here reserves the table for me. I don't need a name tag stating that I can sit here. There are plenty of other tables that can be occupied by someone who is eating their breakfast." Her words came out in a cold, harsh tone, but it was even and wasn't too loud. Whoever he was, he had managed to make enough of a scene that it was probably spreading through the mall by now. Therefore she didn't need to make a second one. Despite the fact that she wanted to beat him over the head with his cane.

Turn it inside out so I can see the part of you that’s drifting over me I forever walk alone. All I desire is a friend and nothing more~ Arthur P. Samuel
When I wake your never there and when I sleep you’re everywhere He graciously allowed her the chance to appologise, after all it was the fair thing to do. Alas though, the girl wasted her opertunity. Like a skilled samurai, she seemed to calculate her thoughts in such away that they came crashing down upon Arthur with deadly precision (Hopefully that made sense :S ).
He was not dauntered however, but his anger did rise like a bonfire. He calmly waited for the girl to finish, each second he heard what she had to say, but also to make time for himself to gather his thoughts together in order to lay a counter attack.
Once she was finished, he removed his glasses and placed them onto the table, then turned to face his oponent. By now he was sure that other people were watching, but he did not care at all. A cunning and deceitful smile was adorned on his face, the kind you'd expect a mad scientist to have.
With his cold, but brilliant eyes locked onto his opponent he replied"I'll concede to the fact that it was indeed a foolish mistake on my part for not noticing that someone was here in the first place....after all, one must be in tune with his surroundings if they are to make it in this cold and harsh world."
He gently placed his cane by the edge of the table, out of reach from the girl and added with,"Yes, you did not physically attack me, but I cannot allow you to be so dillusional that you actually believe that you did not attack me. Face facts, your space was compromised, so you lashed out at me verbally."
His smile slowly melted away, as did the shimmering brilliance in his eyes. Instead of leaning in closer, he leaned a little away from the girl and said with his arms crossed over his chest,"More importantly, "skitish" was the word you were looking for, therefore...."
He was ready to finish it off by saying 'Therefore that shows your stupidity', but it was only then that he realized that this was not the first time he had lashed out at someone instead of peacefully resolving the issue.
A glimmer of sadness overtook his eyes, and his demeanor became more depressed than furious.
He turned away from his oponent, not much different than a whipped dog and said,"Bloody hell....is this is what I've become? No wonder I don't have friends..."
He then swallowed his pride, turned to his opponent and said,"I-I'm sorry....I am the one at fault....not you.......I...I shall be leaving now."
He slowly grabbed his cane as well as his breakfast, and casually got up to walk away, leaning on his cane the whole way. That was when he felt the tears began to well up, but he quickly began to wipe them away, not wanting anyone to see him cry.

Do to the fact that he was so jumpy, Kazumi was fully ready for him to just stand up and leave. While it was true that his initial outburst had been quite angry, Kazumi did not believe that he had what it took to fully confront her. Therefore, when the smile appeared on his face, she was slightly taken aback, coming to the realization that this was probably not going to end quietly. Of course, she had no doubt that she could win, purely because of the fact that she didn't back down even if every single one of her arguments was shot down. Well at least he agrees with me on something, Kazumi thought sourly, restraining the urge she felt to tap her foot impatiently. Unfortunately she was forced to admit that she had, in fact, verbally lashed out at him. But the way he said it made it seem as though she had intended for him to fall and make a fool of himself. "Alright, I agree. I verbally lashed out at you, however that does not mean I had the intention of causing you harm. Falling to the floor remains your own fault."
Despite how difficult it was, Kazumi refrained from mentioning that nearly anyone would ask as to why such a strange boy was sitting at a table that was so clearly occupied. Snide comments were her specialty, but as her mother so often pointed out, her comments usually only aggravated situations. However, as he leaned forward all those thoughts disappeared. Did he really think that he had the right to tell her what she had meant to say? "No offense," Kazumi started, sarcasm dripping from her tone thickly, "but if I had meant skittish then I would have said as such."
She had come to terms that this probably wasn't going to end easily, so when he suddenly backed down with a depressed look on his face, Kazumi was surprised once again. What is with this guy? His mood swings are worse than mother's, Kazumi thought, staring at him with a slightly confused look on her face. He was mumbling and his head was turned away from her, so everything that he said got lost in the chatter of passer-bys, but she did catch something about "no friends" and she frowned. Kazumi was rather familiar with what it was like to not have friends, though whether or not she actually cared had yet to be seen. Turning towards her, the boy apologized and stood, grabbing his stuff.
Kazumi pretended not to notice him wipe at his eyes as he turned away and she let out a reluctant sigh. An idea popped into her head, from nowhere really, and her foot reached out, pushing the back of his previously occupied chair so that it hit him in the back of his knees. She wondered if it was going to cause him to fall back into the chair, and hopefully he didn't hit the germ infested floors. "Do you normally give up so easily or is it only when you get confronted with someone who is quite obviously right?" Kazumi asked him, a challenging tone in her voice. Her face had relaxed from her previous cold expression, and while there was no smile to be seen, it was a warmer expression.

Turn it inside out so I can see the part of you that’s drifting over me I forever walk alone. All I desire is a friend and nothing more~ Arthur P. Samuel
When I wake your never there and when I sleep you’re everywhere The world felt as if it was collapsing all around him; a loner who felt too isolated on the deserted island that he called life. He had lost miserably to someone he didn't even know, and that hurt him as badly as getting shot in the foot by one of his own guns.
Wiping away the last of his tears, he was ready to walk off to the radio store, when something had slammed into the bck of his legs, causing him to fall down into what he realized was the chair he had been sitting in.
He turned suddenly to the girl he had been arguing with, the one he had just lost to. She seemed much calmer this time, but still seemingly ready to break him in half.
He listened to what she had to say, and replied with"Rarely do I ever appologize...this is probably the first time I appologized to anyone because everyone else doesn't want to compete with me....or be near me for that matter."
He wasn't sure if he should continue eating, after all he felt out of place by sitting at the table that she was sitting at. He didn't know that she had been sitting there earlier because of the way his mind wandered, but now he knew tht this was in fact her table and he was intruding.
"I suppose the question I should be asking is why do you care about someone that intrudes upon the table you were sitting at?"he asked her with a curious, but wounded look on his face
From what he had seen, she did not seem like the type of person to show mercy to someone who had recently wronged her. She seemed to be ferocious as well as unforgiving, which made it all the more interesting that she would continue to talk to him, while at the same time he was on guard in case she wanted to finish him off with more verbal abuse.

Kazumi watched as the chair slammed into the back of his knees and she waited to see if he was going to fall back onto the floor. For as funny as that would have been she wasn't sure whether or not she could stand for him to give passer-bys another spectacle. Assuming, of course, that he was always so melodramatic when it came to germs and floors. She refrained from smiling even though she knew that she had won, but she was unable to stop the half smile that twitched at the corner of her lips. It fell almost immediately, returning her face to a bored expression and she waited for his reaction, which she was glad to say wasn't nearly as out there as his last one had been.
Giving him a small shrug Kazumi asked, "should I consider myself lucky that you apologized to me then?" There was a joking tone in her voice, but when he mentioned that no one liked to be around him it struck a different cord with her. Kazumi knew what that was like, having people purposely avoid you, but it seemed to affect him differently than it did her. "You know, if you tend to pick fights or arguments with people that you meet then they tend to avoid you." That statement sounded hypocritical, especially considering that she had been the one who had started up an argument. But she didn't normally do so, not that she was a people person in way.
Kazumi pulled off another piece of her cinnamon bun, of which she had momentarily forgotten due to the argument. "If you prefer it then I could just throw another fit and let you walk away." Kazumi wasn't above petty arguments and fights as long as she won, so she let the thought stew for a moment before deciding on how to answer his question. "I don't know, I guess it's because I was just up for feeling...nice?" The word left an odd taste in her mouth and Kazumi frowned slightly. That hadn't quite been the answer she had been looking for, but saying it was because she was a loner and people hardly ever noticed her sounded too...emolicious.

Turn it inside out so I can see the part of you that’s drifting over me I forever walk alone. All I desire is a friend and nothing more~ Arthur P. Samuel
When I wake your never there and when I sleep you’re everywhere There was something about this girl that made Arthur feel at peace. He listened to her smooth serated edge-like words, carefully taking them in so that he could treasure the conversation."Lucky, no. Grateful more likely." he answered at one point, also in a joking tone
She had mentioned something about arguing with others wasn't a good idea, as that was the cause for his lack of friends and possible cause of people avoiding him, to which he replied"I suppose its mostly that, and possibly with my grade scores...I've been told on more than one occaision that I am a show off...."
He shook his head when she had asked if he wanted her to start another argue just for the sake of him leaving. She was an odd girl by the looks of it, the kind of odd that didn't belong in those so called "normal" groups. She was deffinately more the type to break the ice, and that's what he liked about her so far.
She then said something that made him feel odd.
"To feel nice? By that do you mean to allow me the pleasure of company when I am unable to find some my own way? In other words, your good deed for the day?"he asked
Most of the time his mind would come up with things so fast that his mouth would shoot the thoughts out like bullets in a clip. He didn't know if what he had just nsaid would set her of or not, all he knew was that he was curious about her, and wasn't sure if he had just signed a death warrant.
Never the less, he pulled out his cinnamon bun and began to inish eating it. It was rather tasty compared to the usual food he ordered over the phone.
By that time he began to think about his pets, Sparky and Artemis. They were probably bored to tears without them, as he was feeling sore without their company.

"Grateful? Don't push your luck buddy," Kazumi told him, pointing a finger at him jokingly, unable to keep the half smile from crossing over her features. It felt odd for her to come so close to smiling this many times within one short period of time and she rubbed her cheek absently. "In a school like ours you would think that good grades would be appreciated considering most of the spoiled rich bastards have surprisingly high test scores." Her obvious dislike for those "rich bastards" made her tone drip with hate, but it was ironic that she, herself, was rather rich. "But why should it matter if they think that your showoff. If you're good at something then you should show it off. Unless it's fighting," she added with an odd look.
She had hoped that he wouldn't comment about her statement of feeling nice, but at the same time she knew that he was going to. Honestly, Kazumi didn't even know what in the hell she meant about it herself. Letting out a sigh, Kazumi sunk into her chair some with a frown on her face, "to be completely honest, I wasn't too sure what I meant. It was one of those things that just kind of slipped out, because trust me, I don't usually bother trying to sympathize with people. You can take whatever meaning you want from it." Kazumi pushed at the floor with her foot, tipping her chair backwards as she studied him some more. She was interested as to why he had freaked out about the floor, even though the fact that he was probably a germaphob was an obvious one, she wanted to talk about it. There were, however, things that one did not mention to a stranger, especially not one she had just finished arguing with.
Lost in her thoughts of the teenage boy in front of her, Kazumi didn't realize that she was steadily pushing her chair further and further back. There was a sudden feeling of vertigo as her feet lifted from the ground and her hand lashed out, grabbing the table and pulling herself and the chair upright again. Her heart was beating in her chest so hard that it felt like it was in her throat and she swallowed hard, running a hand through her short black hair in slight nervousness. Talk about embarrassing, she thought.

Turn it inside out so I can see the part of you that’s drifting over me I forever walk alone. All I desire is a friend and nothing more~ Arthur P. Samuel
When I wake your never there and when I sleep you’re everywhere "Very well then." he said in response to her statement
Finishing off his cinnamon bun, he watched in shock as the girl before him started to fall back with her chair, heading for the germ infested floor. However, in a swift motion she tilted back and managed to plant the legs of the chair back onto the ground. A look of panic was on the girl's eyes.
"Bloody hell....."he said in relief,"You almost fell to that....sickening and disgusting floor."
The mere thought of that floor gave him shivers most foul. He wasn't even comfortable walking on it with his sandals let alone walking on it with bare feet. That thought also gave him the shivers.
"Honestly....they should do a better job at keeping these facilities good and sterile. Especially with ll the diseases that these revolting germs carry."he said, half talking to himself, and half talking to Kazumi
He cautiously began to work on his smoothie, not liking the look of the straw that the guy at the counter supplied him with. For all Arthur knew, the man may or may not have washed his hands.
The young man wasn't about to take a chance, so he brought out his rubbing alcohol and began to sterilize the straw by rubbing a small dime sized glob of alcohol onto it, giving it a thorough scrub.
"Even more so handing me an unprotected straw....common courtesy my biscuit!" he said to himself with full focus on the straw itself,"If I wanted a straw I would've gotten one that was protected by those paper sleeves! Honestly, people don't think...."
He reinserted the straw into the drink, and waited for the alcohol to eat at the supposed germs that may or may not be on his straw.

Kazumi raised an eyebrow slightly as she looked at him. She had been hoping for some other kind of response, maybe a smile or something more than just a comment. And here I was thinking that I was uptight. Go figure, she thought. She swallowed hard at the thick lump in her throat that was refusing to go away after her frightening almost-fall onto the ground. She hadn't been worried about the germs on the floor as much as the back of her head slamming into the ground, and she stated as such. "Personally I was more worried about the possibility of my cracking open compared to the germs. I find that death is worth germs, personally." There was going to be no more leaning back on these chairs, not without some kind of support behind her, because obviously the air did not count as support.
Running a hand through her hair, Kazumi grabbed her smoothie and took a rather long and large sip, her left eye twitching at the sharp pain in her temple. Brain freeze! With her left eye twitching only a couple more times, Kazumi swallowed and looked at the rest of her cinnamon roll, a grimace crossing her features. "Um...this is probably going to be a rather stupid question considering you have a germ thing. But do you want this?" she asked, sliding the cinnamon roll away from her. Overly sweet things made her stomach turn, kind of like the way the smell of sour milk did. She could have just thrown it away, but despite the fact that her mother was rich the woman had this thing with wasting food. And she swore that she went to the "commoners market" because the food was cheaper. Not like you could tell the difference when it came to taste anyway.
"It's a mall, not a hospital. They aren't going to sterilize the place. It would take way to long and they would lose business," Kazumi said, her brown eyes focusing back to the cinnamon roll and then to the boy sitting at her table. And that was when it hit her. Not quite like a ton of bricks but more like a pound of feathers; light, fluffy, and rather annoying feathers. Kazumi had no idea what his name was. To introduce myself, or to not introduce myself. That is the question, she thought, tipping her chair back only so that the front legs were mere centimeters off of the floor. She was about to open her mouth to introduce herself when he began ranting about his straw. His straw of all things. Of course the point he made was rather valid; how did they know if the guy behind the counter washed his hands?
Staring at her own straw Kazumi had to resist the urge to get up and throw her straw away. There were other ways to drink a smoothie without a straw; but no, because if she did that then that would make her almost as paranoid as the boy at her table. Almost....but no quite. Clearing her throat softly she spoke again, "so we haven't made any introductions. I'm Kazumi Maeko."

Turn it inside out so I can see the part of you that’s drifting over me I forever walk alone. All I desire is a friend and nothing more~ Arthur P. Samuel
When I wake your never there and when I sleep you’re everywhere "They have the time..."he said with stern disagreement,They just do not want to spend the money necessary enough to clean this place up to make it more acceptable."
He listened carefully to when she began to say that the mall was not a hospital, which aggravated him a little.
"It doesn't matter if it's a hospital, mall or a psyche ward! All I'm saying is that it wouldn't kill them to be a little more neat and tidy around here."he shot back
He looked once more into her hard, but stunning eyes. He became so focused on them that the sounds of the people around them became almost distant. I could stare into those eyes all day....he thought to himself as he began to tak a long sip on his drink through his straw.
Her lips began to move, but all he could hear was 'Blah blah blah-blah'. She pushed something over to him, causing him to briefly glance at it. It was the cinnamon roll she had been eating.
Right away he notice the small bite mark on the roll, which caused him to lean back and to block himself with his arm, like one would when they tried to shield themselves from something that lashed out violently.
Only then did it make sense as to what she had said.
No, NO!! Absolutely not!" he said and pushed the cinammon roll aside with his cane, which he rubbed down with rubbing alcohol soon afterward
He looked at what he did, then to her and said after quickly clearing his throat,"Please never offer me something you just bit into....otherwise I just lose my head."
It was only then that he realized that he never got her name, and never gave his. It didn't shock him really, after all nobody ever really cared enough to ask for his name.
He could tell that this girl was different however when she brought up the fact that neither of them ever introduced. She even gave him her name.
"Kazumi Maeko...."he repeated
The name gave him goosebumps. It was cute to be sure, but also had a sharp feel to it like the edge of a knife. A fitting name for this woman. He thought.
"A pleasure to meet you Kazumi. I am Arthur P. Samuel the second." he said, extending his gloved hand for her to shake

The tone of his voice was one of disagreement and slight defensiveness, and Kazumi listened to him patiently. It seemed that it was the easiest way to deal with his reactions, and by allowing herself the opportunity to take an objective view, Kazumi was able to find the hilarity in it all. It wasn't necessarily that she found him funny, though there was that, but it was really the fact that she was actually having a conversation about cleanliness. Of all things for her to actually be having a relatively intelligent conversation over whether the mall was clean enough or not. "You muse realize that you're the only one who cares enough to be bothered by it. Well...I'm sure there are others, but the majority out rules the minority." Kazumi didn't bother mentioning the cost to sterilize every surface in the mall would have been too great for them if they wanted to stay in business.
Kazumi shook her smoothie around some, trying to shake it up so that there was she could suck at without making those ridiculous slurping noises that annoyed her to know end. She could feel his eyes on her and she looked up briefly, only to go back to her smoothie with what seemed like some avid interest. It may have been more than just a slightly awkward situation, at least for a brief moment. Her half eaten cinnamon roll seemed to have caught his attention and his reaction was just as theatrical and outrageous as earlier when he fell onto the floor. Kazumi laughed, her hands covering her mouth as she doubled over for a few seconds, unable to stop the giggling and laughing that was coming from her mouth. Straightening, Kazumi took the cinnamon roll and, still chuckling, took it to a nearby garbage can, throwing it away. She made a failed attempt to ignore the lack of length in her shorts and sat back down, bringing one knee up and wrapping her arms around it.
With her chin set on her knee, Kazumi couldn't help but smile at him. "Well, you certainly proved that, now didn't you?" she asked, referring to his comment about losing his head. She waited patiently for him to return the favor of saying his name and was a little more than surprised when he held out his hand. It had probably been rather silly of her to assume that he wouldn't. She reached out and took his gloved hand, ignoring the odd feeling of leather against her palm, "well it was certainly interesting meeting you Arthur."
