Summer. Something that teenagers were never disappointed about, considering the fact that you didn't have to do any homework and could do whatever you pleased. Summer was the time when you could lay out in the sun and let all of your worries melt away. Parties every night, traveling around the world, or maybe just laying around all day and doing completely nothing. Now that the summer days were slowly going away kids would have to say bye to the days of sleeping in and hello to school and the "glorious" amount of homework yet again. Instead of laying in the sand and trying to look cute like any other girl Yumiko was tackling the waves. Once she stepped onto the white sands and starring at the big waves Yumiko couldn't help but to feel the rush of excitement.
She had the decency to say hello to a few of her friends that went to St. Lobelia Academy then made her way closer to the shore. If it wasn't clear, she practically stood out like a sore thumb thanks to her blue hair. Others wondered why she even changed her hair color since it was naturally black. In her mind, if she wanted to get attention why not change something about her physically? Not only that but her parents actually put their focus on her for a moment until they just got use to it. There were times where Yumiko just wanted to let her parents know that she did still exist and wasn't always a perfect little girl. A small smile grew on the girls lips as she tied back her hair in a high pony-tail stretching for a moment. Yumiko thought she looked fine with her blue hair as strange as it sounded. It was better than hot pink or some other bright colors she had in mind.
Yumiko dropped her beach bag on the sand and grabbed her surfboard running into the water without a second thought. Chills when down her spine as she allowed herself to sink under the water for a moment before coming back up for air. She was quiet pleased about this little party that the host club held; whoever they were, and in her mind, she didn't quiet care. No, she didn't have a problem with them nor did she obsess over them. She was just a girl on the sidelines just trying to have a good time and stay out of any drama. She climbed onto her board and surf the day away. Crashing into waves, doing nifty tricks along the way with falling off her board from time to time and getting dunked under the water. In all honesty she was having a fun time; even if she wasn't surfing with her friends.
That was until she slipped and plummeted under the water. That of course was an unpleasant feeling; the part where she swallowed a gallon of salt water and finally came up to the surface to gasp for air. Her surfboard was floating away, her eyes gazed over at it for a moment. What felt like years she was finally on shore again letting her surfboard fall to the side and her sliding into the sand in an exhausted fashion. Her chest burned, along with her eyes still in surprise she just prayed that she wouldn't get attention at all. She was embarrassed let alone felt stupid, she wasn't paying attention and her board slipped away making her crash. She slowly closed her eyes, her body motionless with her coughing with a look of distaste on her facial features. So much for having a wonderful time. word count: 608 tagged: anyone! comments: lame post :c just rambling. basically she crashed into a wave from surfing. credit: me. please don't steal.

One minute I held the key!Next the walls were closed on me! The room was usually dark in the morning, but the brown haired girl had forgotten to close the blinds in her window and the sun shined through on her face that morning. She had managed to stay asleep for awhile, but not too long. Dark eyes fluttered open and squinted at her ceiling fan. It took a minute for her eyes to adjust in the lightened room. Mari sat up in her bedy and pushed the quilt off her. She, no matter what the maids or her parents said, loved sleeping under the quilt. She wasn't sure, it just made her feel safer under the heavy quilt that was on her bed. It was meant for decoration, though. She ignored that fact.
Mari got up and ran her fingers through her messed up hair. Ugh, what a sight she must be! She sat at the edge of her bed and tugged on the thin straps of her satin nightgown. Purple, with white lace rimmed the bottom, it was Mari's favorite thing to sleep in. The brown haired girl got up and walked down the hall to the bathroom. The normal routine as usual. Brush teeth, try and run a brush through her har, take a shower, comb her hair, blow dry her hair, put on a little put of make-up. Then, of course, she would walk back to her room and put on something she might like. Today, she was going somewhere special.
So Mari threw on pink and purple striped bikini with a pale pink cover up dress thrown over it. She put on black and pink striped flip flops and walked down the stairs to find no one home except a couple maids running around. Mari shrugged it off and grabbed a piece of bread. She'd go out to eat for lunch so no worries. She grabbed the keys to her car, and walked out the door. What did her car look like? It was jet black car, rather plain looking. She liked nice and simple, nothing too fancy. Mari turned on the A/C, turned on the radio (but no too loud), fastened her seat belt, and drove out of the driveway. To the beach! She hadn't been in about two weeks.
Just thirty minutes later she was sitting on the beach under a rented umbrella and a new towel. Since of course she was irresponsible and forgot to bring those herself. Don't forget a newly bought surfboard since she wanted something to... 'play with'. Mostly she just sat under the umbrella and enjoyed watching the others surf, it was like a little show for her. Her eyes fell on the girl that had blue hair and her eyebrows furrowed. Nice hair. Why didn't she dye her hair? Nah, she liked it brown. This girl was rather pretty though, and knew how to use a surfboard, that was for sure. She fell off a couple times but seemed fine up until that one fall that seemed to be worse.
Mari cocked her head to one side, feeling her brown bangs brush at her eyebrows. She seemed to wash up on shore, panting as the waves lapped at her legs. Well, better check on her. She stood up with a lazy smile on her face and walked over, crouching beside her and smiling. "Hey, you okay? That was quite a wipe out, huh?" There was a hint of amusement in her voice but she was genuinely concerned for the girl's health. "Need some help?" Her voice was soft as she offered her hand to the blue haired beauty. Poor thing.

Yumiko took in a deep breath after coughing for who knows how long and relaxed her shoulders. All she could taste was the salt water and each time she clenched her teeth together all you could hear were the grains of sand rubbing against her teeth. She couldn’t help but to shiver from distaste and frown a little. But other than that Yumiko was completely fine, she just needed a glass of water; or a gallon. Yumiko rolled onto her stomach placing her chin on the warm sand for a moment in a wonder on what she was going to do next. It never hurt to meet new people and one thing for sure was that she wasn’t going to sit around and look like an outcast. She was far better than that. Twirling a strand of her dry hair she glanced to her left to see someone hover over her.
Her gaze landed on a girl with short brown hair goldish brown eyes. Yumiko couldn’t help but to raise a brow in a wonder as to why she was over here until she asked if she was okay. Her gaze avoided her in embarrassment, she really did hope no one saw her crash but apparently she was wrong. Yumiko looked back at the brunette and smirked a little with a small nod, “You can say that again, I was starting to panic for a moment.” She said in all honesty but in reality, she crashed so much she never had a fear of water. Many would think after having an accident like that Yumiko wouldn’t think twice about getting into the water; let along step in it. Yumiko loved the thrill of surfing and nothing was going to stop her. Okay, one thing would stop her and that would be sharks because we all know we don’t want to walk around with a missing arm feeling like a complete fool.
The blue haired girl waved her hand, “I’m fine, you don’t need to call for help or anything.” Yumiko said calmly sitting up only to cough for a moment making a silly face. “Uhg, nothing like swallowing a gallon of sea water.” She said sarcastically before turning her attention to the other. She looked at the others hand and without a second thought she gratefully grabbed it and stood to her feet. “Thanks,” She said with a full smile, “I'm Yumiko; but you can call me Yumi. Whatever floats your boat.” She said reaching down to grab her surfboard, the one thing she would never leave behind. She looked around and found her bag a couple feet away from them, she didn’t mind much and told herself that she could just get it later. “So do you come here often or did you come just because of the summer party?” Yumiko thought it would be a good idea to start a conversation since she didn’t want things to be awkward after just meeting the stranger.
In all honesty, there were a few times that she saw the other around her school. No, she wasn’t some crazy stalker she just happened to see her face pop up a few times if she were going to class or having lunch with friends. “I didn’t know if I wanted to go or not but after seeing it was at the beach I couldn’t help myself. Surf, Music, Drinks. I don’t know who would pass such a thing up.” She laughed slightly to herself. Yumiko was never the one to just sit home and do nothing, she had to be doing something. If it was photography or just running for exercise it was rare to catch her at home. Maybe it was the fact that she didn’t like how empty it was part of the time. Or the fact that if she stayed too long she could possibly end up being a lazy bum. Yumiko untied her hair before putting it up in a high decent looking ponytail. Maybe she could hang out with this girl for the rest of the day; if not she could always dance and possibly flirt with some boys. word count: 692 tagged: Mari! One minute I held the key!Next the walls were closed on me! It seemed like she had taken quite the fall. She knew surfers fell a lot, but with one like that, she figured a bunch of salt water had to have gone down her throat. What did Mari hate more? Salty teeth or a salty stomach? She shuddered. It was all horrible but she was thankful that the girl was alright and she didn't have to call for help. She looked alright anyway. Mari watched as the girl rolled over onto her stomach, and wondered what she was thinking. The sand must feel good on her, either way. Mari wished she had the excuse to lay down in the sand with her chin buried in a big pile of it, but she didn't quite feel like it.
The girl was quite pretty, Mari noted. She had long blue hair and she was tall! Skinny too. Well the brunette was so different. She was petite, but not quite skinny. She was fit though! But her mother never said she was skinny, and she figured compared to so many others well... she wasn't. She was close though! Mari didn't exactly wish to be skinny though, being whatever weight was fine to her. Overweight was beautiful to her, skinny was beautiful as well! Although sometimes she didn't think like that... sometimes she was guilty of being vain and superficial. The girl was twirling her finger around her blue hair, and Mari impatiently waited for a response.
“You can say that again, I was starting to panic for a moment.”
Mari's smile widened slightly as she felt rather relieved. Okay, girl was all good. That was really all she cared about right now, was the girl's health and she was glad to know that the girl seemed alright. Mari nodded, letting her hands drop to the sand. "Well, glad to see you're talking. Don't worry, I panic so easily my friends laugh at me." Chuckles wound their way around her words as she lifted a hand and brought it to her face, staring at it with brown eyes. A little crab had scuttled over her hand as she had it on the sand, and now it was acting angry that she had brought it up and there was no way off. Plop! He fell off.
“I’m fine, you don’t need to call for help or anything.”
Mari couldn't help but utter a tiny giggle. "Didn't plan on it." Her reply was short, but she was amused by the girl. She wasn't going to call for help! She seemed find enough. The brunette nodded, giggling louder as the girl commented about the water she managed to get shoved down her throat after she coughed. I'm sure there's nothing better. And the sand on your teeth? Yeah, that's the best." She was having fun with this sarcasm, it was one of her strengths. Sarcastic comments, yeah, she loved those. Mari wasn't mean though, she didn't say them all the time!
The brunette nodded as the blue haired girl spoke of her name. Yumiko. Aw, it was kind of cute. "Nice name, Yumiko. My name is Mari. Just plain ole' Mari." Mari smiled at Yumi, leaning back on her hands and letting the water wash over her feet. It was a nice feeling, letting it hit her feet and cooling them.
"So do you come here often or did you come just because of the summer party?”
Mari shrugged. "Eh, I come here and there. I probably would have come anyway, even if the party wasn't here." In all honesty, she wasn't much of an outdoor party person, she had just stopped by to get some peace. She loved the waves laping the shore, and the seagulls sqawking in the distance. Mari would have much rather been in her bedroom on the computer at this point but she was happy to make a friend. Well, if she knew the girl's name, she considered them friends and that was that at this point. Mari watched as the blue haired girl grabbed her things and she smiled lightly, she had a nice looking surfboard.
“I didn’t know if I wanted to go or not but after seeing it was at the beach I couldn’t help myself. Surf, Music, Drinks. I don’t know who would pass such a thing up.”
"I don't know, I almost did." She let out a little laugh, eyes on the waves crashing in on shore. They always brought in new things, clams, crabs, and little fish that ended up flopping onto the sand. Mari scooped one up and threw it back into the ocean again, watching as more came back up. Oh well, it was useless. The waves would bring them back in anyway. She was a sucker for little fish though, and she snatched up another. Mari watched it flip around in her hand for a moment, she was curious what these fish looked like. Ah, it was nothing. Just a slim silver fish. Mari threw it back out again and turned to wait for an answer from Yumi.
