You would not believe your eyes, If ten million fireflies Lit up the world as I fell asleep
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The sun had risen, the early morning air chilled the plants and the humans around them. The world seemed to be sleeping, not feeling like waking up just yet. It was fairly early, that Saturday. The brunette usually didn't get up early, but she had forgotten to buy food for the rest of the week. Since, her parents were kind of too busy to go shopping themselves. It was this or cereal for all meals. Yeah, not going there.
Amethyst blinked as the sun peeked through the tree she had been admiring. I wonder how old it is. She thought to herself. She stalled, not feeling like going to buy something quite yet. The area seemed so serene, like nothing to harm it. It was... refreshing. Most rich people didn't even like stepping foot in a place like this, but Ammy liked feeling like she wasn't so rich. And really, why the hell was there some unwritten rule that commoners stayed away from rich people?
That was just unfair. But that didn't matter anymore. Amethyst couldn't get lost in her thoughts right now. Not again. She sighed, running her fingers through her recently showered hair. She frowned, nibbling her lip as she walked away from that sweet little tree and back into the world of paying money for food. She folded her arms, admiring exotic fruits and spices. It was like they knew she was coming. Damn it. It was so hard not to buy it all.
She yawned, barely awake now, mumbling boredly as she bought organic foods. Bread. Check. Eggs. Check. More cereal. Yes. Amethyst didn't know why she decided to get up to early, maybe it was because she was afraid of Bara complaining into her ear like a scolding chicken? She frowned, damn her. Why couldn't she just take it as it was for once, but she never did anyway. Of course Bara couldn't buy the stuff for herself.
Amethyst blinked as the salesman tried to get her one of the exotic fruits. They knew she was rich. "Damn it all, just give me my fruit!" She snapped, and he hurriedly shoved it into a bag and into her arms. Feeling a little sorry, she walked away. That stupid tree caught her eye again. Maybe... maybe a little nap. It wasn't quite safe to nap, but atleast by-standers wre around, so no one would hurt her right? Okay, hopefully she was right on that one.
Jeans, a t-shirt, and a thin jacket, that was all Ammy wore. Her eyes... slowly closing. She barely even amde it to the tree. She collapsed the ground, letting the grass hug her petite bodice. Ammy smiled lightly, the sun's warmth on her skin. She was only half awake now, struggling to stay awake. She didn't want some idiot stealing the food she had rightfully bought. But gosh, at eight in the morning, it was hard. Since she usually slept until ten on Saturday. Usually.

Eight o'clock in the morning. It was a ridiculous time to be awake for anyone on a weekend, at least in Kyoya's opinion, and it was especially ridiculous for him to be up this early in the morning. Last night his father had hosted a dinner party, one in which all of the Ootori family had been present, including his sister and her husband. The night had been a long one, consisting of Kyoya being paraded between groups of people by his parents, once again going through introductions of people that he already knew everything about. He had seen plenty of students from the school too, and much to his chagrin, he was forced to spend time with them. Putting on a pleasant face, Kyoya had done as told.
He figured that since the dinner party had lasted so late into the night he would be able to sleep in till noon, one, maybe even two in the morning. Granted that Tamaki or the twins didn't decide to suddenly rush into his bedroom and wake him up at some ungodly time. But no, it had not been Tamaki or the twins who had rushed into his bedroom, jumping onto his bed, screaming at him to wake up. In fact, no one rushed in. No, his sister stepped quietly into his bedroom and woke him up carefully, shaking his shoulder slowly and not flinching away when he unleashed his death glare. She wanted him to take her to the commoners market. Why? Because she had never been there and she wanted to try and save money on food. This made no sense to Kyoya, but he had never been able to say no to his sister.
And this is what it got him. Fuyumi had wandered off somewhere else, leaving Kyoya alone. Of course, if he hadn't fallen asleep while standing around then maybe he would still be with her. It's not like she could get lost, and if for some reason she did then they both had cellphones. At the moment, however, all Kyoya wanted to do was find a place to sit down and fall asleep. A quick power nap until he could get back home and go back to his own bed. That was when the tree caught his attention. It was large and looked comfortable, oddly enough, and he stepped closer to it, having every intention of sitting against it and closing his eyes. Who cares if it was in front of everyone? No one was going to bother him.
Stepping closer to the tree was when he saw it. There was a bag on the opposite side of where he was standing and his curiosity was peeked, causing his tiredness to be pushed to the back of his mind. His hands in his pockets, Kyoya stepped around to the other side and looked down at the girl who had obviously had the same idea he did. At least I'm not the only one who thought the tree looked comfortable, Kyoya thought. Now if he could only figure out who she was. It always seemed easier for him to recognize and recall information about people while he was at school. Of course, that could have something to do with the fact that he was usually more awake while at school.
It only took him a few moments longer for him to recognize who she was. Amethyst Taiyo, he stated to himself. Interesting, what is she doing over here? The best way to find out would be to wake her up and ask her. Was it rude to wake up a sleeping girl merely to slate his own curiosity? Of course? Did Kyoya really care? Not in the slightest. Of course, he wasn't about to say "wake up, I want to know why you're out here." That would just be rude. With that in mind, the tall teenager kneeled down and shook her shoulder, "pardon me, but are you sure it's safe for a young girl such as yourself to be sleeping out here?" Kyoya asked, putting on a kind smile.

You would not believe your eyes, If ten million fireflies Lit up the world as I fell asleep
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The breeze gently tickled Ammy's cheeks as she lay there. She was going to fall asleep any second now, the grass under there was so comforting. Like a pillow. It wasn't so bad. Well, she might call Bara and tell her she would... be awhie. The brown headed teenager groggily groped for her phone, which was inside of her bag. With a grunt, she grabbed it, and flipped it open. Some might call it a dinosaur, as it was very... old. But she could atleast text. Ammy frowned as she mashed in the buttons.
i'll be awhile... w8 at home, k?
It got it done. It made her look a little weird, as she usually never chatspoke on a phone, but she was feeling too lazy to finish the words. Ammy tossed her phone on her bag, her hand wrapped around the bag's handles. Ammy blinked slightly as the sunlight shone through branches of the large tree. Ah damn, might be awhile before I even get up. She thought to herself. Another thing that bothered her was the bugs that crawled around here. She shuddered.
Amethyst closed her eyes, enjoying the peace and quiet of the serene area. She was so... close to falling asleep until someone sat down on the other side of the tree. She didn't notice too much, but she felt a little unsecure, so she tensed up, ready to run if things looked bad. But... things went quiet. Was that good or bad? A split second later, the grass shifted, and she didn't dare move. Ammy could sense it coming before it actually happened, she could feel pressure on her shoulder.
Ammy flinched, moving away, groggily staring at Kyoya for a long time before tilting her chin back and smiling wide. "Kyoya-senpai?" She whispered, blinking, wiping her eyes with her hand. "Sorry, Kyoya. I'm not... fully awake." Ammy yawned in the middle of her sentence. "I think I can take care of myself, thank you." She chuckled, sitting up and shoved her phone her bag. She stretched and cocked her head. "Why are you here anyway? I've heard you aren't much of a morning person. Or a person to come to this kind of place anyway."

Kyoya wondered for a brief moment if the girl was even going to awaken. If not then he would probably just go back behind the other side of the tree, sit down, and take his own nap while waiting his sister to call and ask him to go find her. Assuming that she didn't just give up looking for him and head home by herself. She had the number to call their driver if she decided to go home before finding him, and none of them would worry about him, especially if he made sure to text or call his sister in a couple hours. Assuming, of course, that he didn't end up sleeping until three or four in the afternoon. Just as he was about to step away, figuring that she wouldn't wake, Amethyst flinched away and looked up at him, sleep still in her eyes. He wasn't even sure if she had been really sleeping or merely closing her eyes for a little.
He gave a slight nod as she recognized him, though he wasn't surprised since it seemed that even people he didn't know recognized him. "While I believe you may be able to handle yourself well enough it just wouldn't be very proper of me, now would it?" Kyoya asked, moving from his kneeling position so that he was sitting next to her, but in a way that allowed his back to be pressed against the tree. He could feel the rough bark against the skin of his back even with the light denim jacket he wore, and he brought his long legs up so that he could rest his arms on his knees. It had occurred to him that she may want him to leave her alone, but unless she asked him straight out he would stay. It's not like he had anything better to do.
His phone vibrated against his leg and he looked down at the text message from his sister:: I got what I needed so I'm calling the car to come pick me up. Do you want us to come get you, wherever you are? Kyoya responded with a simple "no" and slipped his phone back in his pocket, realizing that Amethyst had started speaking to him again. He didn't fully know what she had asked him, having been focusing on his cellphone, but he could accurately guess as to what was being asked. "I'm not a morning person, and I had intended to sleep in quite late, probably until the afternoon. However, my sister had slightly different plans." Kyoya didn't bother to mention that he had never been able to go against anything his sister asked, choosing instead to answer the second part of her question.
"For some reason my sister found it necessary to buy her groceries here in an attempt to 'save money'," he finally answered, having thought it over for a moment. "I don't know why she doesn't just send someone else to go buy her food for her." Or why she feels the need to buy food from the commoner's market, he added to himself silently. His dark eyes looked over at Amethyst, "and what brings you here?"

You would not believe your eyes, If ten million fireflies Lit up the world as I fell asleep
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Amethyst sat with her head head against the bark. It scratched at her back and head, but heck, it didn't matter too much to her, as long as she was entertained, she didn't notice it too much. And since Kyoya was here, she was entertained. She listened to him speak, nodding her head slightly, her facial expression went from calm, to amused. "I guess you're right. It was a little rude of me to respond that way." She admitted.
Uninvited, Kyoya sat down beside her. She blinked, slightly confused. Nah, it was alright. He was a safe guy. Atleast... she was pretty sure he was. Was he as uncomfortable as her? Sitting against the bark? She could only guess. Maybe he didn't mind too much, like her. Ammy really didn't like being uncomfortable, but, like mentioned, if her mind was off of it, it didn't bother her that much. Kyoya looked pretty relaxed, was he always like that?
"She did, did she?" Amethyst grinned. "Us girls and our needs, huh." She let out a chuckle as she turned her head towards him. He was dressed pretty casual, he looked casual. Ammy was pretty casual looking aswell. Just a t-shirt and jeans. She didn't dress up often, unless going somehwhere special. She liked clothes that weren't tight, or... too classy. Something that didn't look like she put too much effort in going to the market.
"Saving money? Well, every penny counts I guess." Amethyst said cheerfully, although she was very tired, she was trying her very best to sound awake. "Well, I come here because... it's peaceful. And not a lot of people come here... and well... we needed breakfast." She laughed. "I'm lazy, so I put off shopping until the very last minute. Almost always. I starve my sister, Bara." She joked. Ammy sometimes did, since her sister was so damn picky!
It wasn't her fault though, she got it from her father. But they were both annoying. Replace the r in her name with a k and you get Baka. She would have snickered, but decided Kyoya might think she was snickering about him. Or something. Amethyst leaned back, watching the clouds. The wre so fluffy. If only she could sleep on one. Or have one as a mattress at the least.

"It's quite alright," Kyoya told her, one of his false smiles that he always placed on his face, especially while he was at school. However, it hurt to smile due to the fact that he was forced to all night last night, and so it fell quickly and he had to fight the urge to reach up and massage his cheeks. Despite the fact that the smile he had given was a fake one, Kyoya had been honest when he stated that it was fine. Rude remarks were a norm in these times, and he didn't find that her remark could be considered rude in the first place. Of course, it was all a matter of opinion on whether or not a comment could be considered rude. A silence had settle over them and Kyoya's dark eyes watched clouds drift by lazily overhead and he found his eyes beginning to feel heavy as he watched. He had never been the type that could find shapes in the clouds, and he supposed it was because he just didn't have the imagination for such things.
Amethyst's voice cut through his empty thoughts and he listened to her speak, missing the first half of what she said, but he caught the joke, or what he assumed to be a joke due to the chuckle that she gave at the end. "Yes well, I got use to it a while ago. My sister and I were always close," Kyoya told her, the smallest of smiles playing at the corners of his lips, a real smile this time too. It didn't happen very often, a real smile crossing his face. Not because he didn't like to smile, but because there was hardly ever a reason to smile, meaning that he faked it quite often. It seemed ridiculous to smile unless you really meant it, but as someone once said you'll catch more flies with honey than vinegar, a phrase that had been drilled into his head.
He was doing it again, Kyoya realized, getting lost in his thoughts instead of paying attention to the young girl next to him. Some host you are, Kyoya thought to himself. No matter the fact he had been woken up too early on a weekend and he didn't really have to be playing host at the moment. "But when you have money then why dip so low as to buy cheap food?" Kyoya asked. Saving money was a logic that only made sense for those people who did not have money, and his sister was not in this group of people of people. Neither, in fact, was Amethyst, but he was not about to delve into the reasons as to why she was buying, as he called it, "cheap food." He made no comment for her comment of putting off shopping for a couple of moments, trying to think of a response that wouldn't come across as quite so rude. "Fortunately we have people who buy the food for us. It's probably an easier task if you are getting paid to do so," he finally stated.

You would not believe your eyes, If ten million fireflies Lit up the world as I fell asleep
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Damn it. She shouldn't have apologized. Did she look like a fool or something? The brown haired could feel the tips of her ears turn red. Thank God her hair covered her ears. Amethyst pursed her lips as she looked at his smile. If Ammy knew one thing, it was that, that was a fake smile. It was so obvious it was sad. "You seem tired, if you don't feel like talking, I don't mind." Amethyst reassured him. He did look tired, something must have happened. Did he have some kind of... exciting thing happen last night? Ah, she didn't care too much, but she didn't say it. Most of the time, she did care about what happened to people. She liked to be kind of a ... comforter? But she was too tired to care at this point.
Amethyst got lost in thoughts once again. Such a problem, it was. And it was a pity no one quite understood how it troubled her. She might forget to say something or... or she might come across rude! Ammy turned and listened as Kyoya spoke. "That's nice. It is always good to have a close relationship with siblings. Although... I don't really take my own advice." Ammy stifled a chuckle as she turned back and placed her back once again against the hard bark of the tree. She, ever so slightly, lifted her head and stared at the clouds that floated across the sky. They were serene. They were calming. She could just fall asleep now. But she didn't want to.
As he asked the curious question, Amethyst found herself asking the same question. Why? A one syllable word. But... it said so much. It said you were curious. It said that you weren't afraid to ask. Just one word. But it would drive you to find the answers. And sometimes, Amethyst didn't stop at the simple explanation. She went full out. She needed to know everything. She wanted to be as smart as possible. She wanted to be successful, and that meant when one asked why... you asked the same question. But she was getting lost in thoughts again, and it was maybe... thirty seconds before she actually answered the question. Well, that was embaressing.
"Why... I don't know." Amethyst said truly puzzled. Her eyebrows furrowed slightly as she looked over at him. "My mum's always been kind of... scared of losing money so she always went here and bought stuff. I guess... she really liked it here. I've never heard her complain." She shrugged. "So... I decided I might as well come. A lot of this is actually good food. Which, I hadn't expected." Amethyst laughed. "We used to have people that would ah... buy the stuff for us. But they never got it right, besides... I like doing it myself."
