Your rails have always outrun mine
Taking a much-needed sip from her water bottle, Aven hustled through the hall, her shoulderbag bouncing against her hip as she pushed open the door of the library.
Here was a nerd on a mission.
Heading straight for the non-fiction section, Aven brushed past an empty table, accidentally knocking over a chair quite noisily. She stopped, face twisting up into a grimace before she turned around and set the chair up again, face reddening as the librarian stared at her.
Straightening, she hurried off to hide herself between shelves and look over musical theory essays. With a sigh, she pulled a hefty volume written in Russian; one of three she had found in the library so far. Aven had already read through it once; of course it was about classical Russian mucisians, but it had an interesting section about pieces played on cello, and that was what she needed.
Making her way to the historical section, Aven picked out a book detailing the history of the Academy; it couldn't hurt to educate herself about the school she was attending. Flipping through it quickly, she frowned, skimming a few paragraphs at the beginning.
Glancing around, she wandered off to find a table, where she spread out, pulling her notebook out of her bag so she could take notes as she thumbed through the musical theory book.
Eventually, she found herself staring off into space, thinking. Her gaze strayed to the Russian printed on the page she'd been looking at, tracing over the familiar lines. Sure, she needed the information inside, but that wasn't the only reason she'd gone looking for it in the first place. She missed her family, her parents. She felt so out of place here; the only relative she had near was her uncle, and he lived seven districts from her.
Aven missed the clean air of Russia; Tokyo was a busy city, with the pollution to match. It was better than the mostly cold temperatures of her former home, but she still succumbed to allergy attacks, especially now that the blossoms were starting to come to life.
Just thinking about it made her eyes itch.
Mostly, she missed her parents, yes, even her father, who was mostly too busy to...
Had she locked the door to her apartment?
"Good God..." She muttered in Russian; if the cat had gotten out, and she was bound to, if Aven hadn't locked the door, then Izumi would eat her for lunch...
Banishing the thought from her mind, she turned back to the book, the mental image of her cello case gathering a layer of dust in the corner of her bedroom urging her to jot down more tidbits from the text.
...She really hoped she'd locked the apartment door. My love, I am the speed of sound

You would not believe your eyes, If ten million fireflies Lit up the world as I fell asleep
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The library... she needed to find the library. She needed to study! Amethyst had to study for Language class. Wait... that was what it was called right? Oh never mind! Her dress shores clacked on the smooth floor as she walked. She was lost.. a little. Where was the library? Where!? Good God, this was the second time she got lost in here. Ammy frowned as she ran her fingers through her hair. Her fingers ran along the expensive wall as she walked. She tiredly hummed a random tune to amuse herself as she got deeper and deeper into the school. Amethyst's eyes closed for just a second to enjoy the peace and she ran into a wall. She really needed to keep her eyes open at this point. "Damn!" She swore loudly, rubbing her nose.
Ammy looked up. She... kinda knew where she was. Maybe if she just walked along this hall... yes! Yes! She had a stroke of luck! The teenager stumbled upon the library. A smile widened across her face as her small and delicate fingers caressed the door nob. This was the place where she first met Kyoya Ootori. A shiver ran down her spine. Ah, young love. She knew she was so stupid to fall so heavily after almost every young man she saw but... she desperately wanted someone to love her. Other than her over protective father. Amethyst stretched a little before pressing the handle down and opening the door. A rush of conditioned, cold, air rushed into her face and made her sigh with contentment.
Amethyst figured she was alone, since this was one of the libraries that was almost never occupied. Her brown air fell over her shoulders as she walked across the library. Where was a book on... Russian? "Rossiya ... Rossiya ... dolzhny vy·uchitʹ russkiĭ yazyk." I just said... Russia... Russia... gotta learn russian. Yeah.. I think. Ammy sighed. She hated learning other languages! She only knew english and japanese, but prefered to speak in english as it was easier, it came to her naturally. As she walked along the rows of books, she found where a certain book she wanted was. A book about Russian composers? Music? Her teacher suggested it. Unfortunately, it wasn't there, so she settled on Russian History.
As Amethyst rounded a corner, now holding a couple books in Russian, she spotted the book she had indeed been looking for, and it was in the hands of another girl. As the girl sat down, Ammy realized she could no longer get that book. Well, maybe they were in the same class? Maybe they could study together? Damn! The brown haired girl needed as much help as she could get. Amethyst walked over, blushing. She was rather shy. She sat down on the chair opposite of Aven. "Nice book you have there..." Ammy said shyly. "My name's Amethyst Taiyo." Whee.

I miss how you'd sigh yourself to sleep Another sip from the water bottle, which Aven technically wasn't supposed to have in the library, but it wasn't like she would spill it everywhere anyway. Screwing the lid back on, she set the green bottle beside her foot, where it wouldn't easily be seen by the wandering eyes of the librarian. What a great day to have left her laptop at home. Not. She could have used it to copy down almost the exact same things she was reading in this book. A quiet sigh left her, and she quickly cross-referenced a sentence from the book in her head; typos. A word that translated to "strings" had been used as "lines". Another quiet sigh and a slight smile.
Shortly, Aven was interrupted in her note- taking by another girl, who took a seat across from her and greeted her.
Blinking in slight surprise, the Russian glanced around quickly; she hadn't seen or heard the girl enter.
"Yes, it's...very nice, actually. Do you...need it? I have read it before, but I was only writing things to remember down. I'm Aven, by the way. Aven Ivanonva." She greeted in return, setting down her pen and turning her eyes down to the other girl's - she had introduced herself as Amethyst - stack of books, all in Russian.
"Oh, you know Russkiĭ?" She asked brightly, eyes sparkling hopefully. Was this girl also a Russian? She didn't really have the face for it, but neither did Aven's uncle, so she could have been anything. A tiny smile quirked the corner of her mouth as she pointed to the author's name on the cover of the book; "My family has about every book Victor has ever written. My father is good friends with him back home." She elaborated. It couldn't hurt to make friendly small-talk with this other girl, who looked a little younger than she.
Couldn't hurt make a friend. Especially one interested in Russia.
"Have you ever been to Russia, or are you only studying for class?" Aven questioned curiously, tucking a strand of her reddish-brown hair behind her ear as it fell out of place, green eyes sliding from the book to the other girl's face. Why was she being so talkative?! Aven rarely spoke this much to anyone she wasn't almost like family with, preferring to keep to herself as much as possible. It made getting good grades possible for her, because if she got sidetracked by other things in her life other than school, those grades were doomed.
When I'd rake the springtime across your sheets Comments: .______. Thank you! Maybe your gag reflex was acting up with the absolute horror that is my first post? xD

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Amethyst didn't say anything, she silently noted that the girl had a water bottle. Wasn't that banned? The brown haired girl didn't say anything, but she was worried they both might end up scolded. Quite honestly, Ammy didn't respond well to scolding. The brown haired girl tapped her fingers along the table, noting that the girl's name was indeed Aven. That was... quite an interesting name. It sounded nice. It had a nice ring to it. How did this girl find her name? Did it mean anything? Did 'Amethyst' ring such a bell as Aven? Or was it a dull name? Those kinds of things worried the poor girl often. Was she good enough? Did she need a friend? What if this girl was really... a bad person?
"Such a nice name... Aven. I like it." Amethyst tilted her head back and gave a wide smile. It was good... she sounded nice. It would be fine. She reassured herself. "No! I don't need it! Please, please take your time!" She reasurred Aven, looking guilty. She wanted the girl to enjoy it, she shouldn't take it. Besides, she made many good russian books already. "N-n-no... I'm sorry! I'm learning though. I know a little..." Amethyst gave a weak smile. "That's very impressive. I guess you are from Russia? It sounds like a wonderful place. My father has been there on business." The brown haired girl smiled brightly. Maybe she... wouldn't be disappointed?
"I think my mother's been. I know my father has recently. I've never been. They kind of think I'm a burden on trips." Amethyst blushed, staring down at the table. She was trying her best to sound as interesting as possible, and make Aven sound interesting aswell. Her mother always told her to let the other talk, and not speak as much. It made you sound rather rude. Ammy looked up and fingered one of the books. 'The History of Russia' A rather plain title. But it seemed a little interesting. Ammy had always liked history...!
"D-d-do you enjoy history?" The brown haired girl turned red as she stuttered. Damn! She had a problem with stuttering. But she didn't try and correct it, she just lowered her eyes back to the first page of the book. It was in Russian. Half the stuff Ammy didn't understand at all and she frowned deeply. V etoĭ knige vy uznaete o vazhnyeĭshih sobytiyah istorii Rossii. What the hell did that mean? Amethyst concealed her frustration and pretended she was reading though, not wanting to look stupid in front of such a smart girl. Not that Ammyw as stupid, but learning language was not her thing.

All his songs are stolen, sweetheart
Turning her head back down to look back at her book, Aven scribbled down one more sentence before closing the volume.
Blinking, a genuine, albeit small smile spread over Aven's lips at the other girl's comment, "Thank you. I find Amethyst very refreshing, if I do say so myself. It's unique and pretty. Fits you well." She said quietly. She'd never been complimented on her name before, and the Russian found that she was a little taken aback by the praise. Oh well. As the other girl stuttered through an explanation of how she didn't need the book.
Blinking, Aven looked around again, then brought her thumbnail up to her mouth, biting at the already short nail, "You know, it's okay if you need it, I know most of what's in it anyway." She said from behind her hand, dark green eyes on the other.
Replacing her hand on the table, the Russian blinked in confusion. This other girl sure was jumpy. Acted like Aven was going to reach over the table and strangle her, for all intents and purposes. So her parents had both been to Russia? Interesting. Maybe they had heard of one of hers?
"Look, Amethyst, first of all, I'm not a serial killer, and I'm not going to beat you over the head with it if you need the book. Second, it's okay that you've never been to Russia. Really, you don't have to apologize. It's not that great of a place," She resisted the urge to flinch. She would trade Russia for Japan any day, but only because she missed her home. It was cold there, and she got sick every other week, it had seemed like, "and yes, I do enjoy history. My father, Isaac Ivanov, is an officer in the Russian Federation Council, and my mother, Marie, is a musician, so it's kind of important for me to know my history." Aven offered a smile again, surprised that she'd been so bold with the other girl.
"What about your parents? What do they do?" She queried, sliding the book away from her in a silent indication that it was alright if the other needed it before picking up the book she had found about the school.
A discreet look around, and Aven picked up her water bottle again, taking another sip. She'd been pretty dehydrated these last few days, and couldn't really afford not to have it with her, so as the librarian stalked by - she was a little creepy, really -, Aven shoved the bottle discreetly under the table, keeping stoic eye contact with the staff member as she disappeared behind a shelf several spaces down from the two girls.
"Oi, she scares me." The Russian muttered, her accent coming out mightily as she lowered her voice.
Stolen out from the whippoorwills, and screamin' car alarms NOTES: Aww, thank you. c: Amethyst is cute.

You would not believe your eyes, If ten million fireflies Lit up the world as I fell asleep
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Amethyst tapped her fingers across the cool, solid wood. Her eyes were half closed as she watched her fingers move... as if she was playing the piano. As she snapped back to life, her hands went back to her lap and her hair flew back behind her shoulders once again. The brown haired girl smiled. "Thank you..." Her sentence was left untouched. She didn't know how to finish it. She didn't know how to respond to such a compliment. She just blinked gratefully and looked at her lap. Sometimes... she was shy. And sometimes... she was out going. It depended on how she felt.
"If-if-if it's, alright with you. I-I-I kinda wanted it for my language class b-but..." Once again, Amethyst trailed off, the tips of her ears turned pink. She didn't want to come off like an idiot but...! Gosh it was so hard! Why couldn't she speak? She was so embaressed. She just had never been around a girl like Aven. She was so polite and stuff... all the other girls laughed at her whenever she stuttered. She had that problem since she was six and it never go any better. To her, it was just something to live with. Ammy guessed it was something to laugh at for others. Something amusing. It didn't hurt as much as it used to, when she first came to Ouran.
As Aven spoke, Ammy flinched. She bit her lip and nodded. "I-i-izvinite." She said sorry in russian. "I'm just kind of... a-a-afraid of coming across r-rude or something and ah... a lot of the g-girls here... they kind of s-s-s-scare me so..." Amethyst turned red on her cheeks. "I guess you wouldn't understand, you don't seem as s-shy as me, which is a g-g-good thing, right?" She tilted her chin back and gave a sincere smile. "I guess e-e-either way I'm either going to c-c-come of as a wimp or rude or... something. Mostly a wimp though." Ammy blinked. "And I'm laughed at c-c-constantly for s-s-stuttering. It's hard to talk about projects in front of my class and all..." She chuckled.
"History is wonderful..." Ammy said wistfully, staring at the book before her and fingering the pages delicately. "I mean, it makes me feel like I've been there, you know? I-I get so into it and a-all." The brown haired girl admitted, ducking her head and turning a page, trying to make out a couple of words at a time. She would figure out the sentence and re-read it until she memorized it. Every word counter. It meant a lot to her. She needed to learn russian! Her teacher was counting on her, since most of the other students didn't take her seriously. Atleast... Ammy did.
Amethyst was shocked out of her thoughts by Aven. M-m-my parents? Oh well my Dad owns a lot of hospitals." She admitted shyly. She ran a finger through her hair and pushed it behind her ears as she managed to shyly make eye contact with Aven for the first time. "Y-y-you have pretty eyes. Has a-a-anyone complimented you on them-them before?" Ammy asked, tilting her chin back and smiling. She did look very pretty. If only she looked like that! She wanted to be as pretty. Unfortunatey, she wasn't the greated looking girl around. She wasn't ugly... maybe a little pretty...

He sings 'em for you special "Amethyst. It's okay, really." Aven began, a little irritated now that the other girl was turning the fact that she needed a book into a back-and-forth about reassurance. The girl either stuttered when she was really nervous, or stuttered all the time, and it confused Aven that the other would be so threatened by her, of all people. She wasn't too remarkable, and was a pushover most of the time.
With a soft, barely-perceptible sigh, the other girl leaned back as Amethyst explained that she didn't want to seem rude and intrusive. She was pleased that the other had used Russian, and resisted the urge to reply with Russian; she was trying to improve her English and Japanese, because every time her mother called, and she greeted the woman in Russian, Marie Ivanova threw a fit. Best not fall to the temptation.
"There's...not much truth to that statement, Amethyst. I don't really know anyone here, and - " She was cut off as the other girl launched off again.
"Yeah, I understand..." Aven managed in between the other girl's talking. How was she a wimp again? Her vocal cords certainly weren't weak at all... She banished that thought almost immediately as unkind. The other girl obviously needed someone to talk to, and Aven didn't have anything really productive to do, so, why not listen and see if she could make a friend?
She watched as the other girl studied a page in the book she opened, "Do you...actually know how to read Russian?" Aven asked, smiling mirthfully at the other. The language was...difficult to pick up at first for others, the letters and phonetics overwhelming, and since it was such a rapid language, well, that made it all the more difficult to learn. As Amethyst explained about her father, Aven put down the book about the Academy and leaned forward again, watching Amethyst.
She opened her mouth to reply, but was once again cut off. She really needed to work on her timing.
Pretty eyes? Aven blinked, as if that would suddenly clear things up for her. This was a dangerous territory for conversation, and she quickly stepped out of it; "Oh, thank you. Do you...do you play a musical instrument?" She asked offhandedly, curious. It would be nice to have someone to relate to here.
She continued, "I've been working on my audition piece for the Classical Music Club, so...that's kind of why I'm here. I needed to understand a little more about Haydn's musical style, and I figured a theory book was the best place to start..." She rambled, offering a small smile.
He knows you're afraid of the dark

You would not believe your eyes, If ten million fireflies Lit up the world as I fell asleep
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The brown haired girl nodded when Aven spoke. "I'm really sorry, I-I stutter so much when I'm nervous. And I didn't really want to disturb y-you in the first place. But.. you seemed nice. But you're right, I'm a real wimp." Amethyst smiled, staring down at the book like it was really interesting. She was able to read most of it now, she was getting used to the alphabet, etc, and able to make out the words. But it was still rather troubling. Ammy pulled her hair behind her ears (as they fell back over them again) and looked up from the book.
Between the girl's ranting, she could hear Aven try and speak, but she decided it wouldn't be worth it to go back and try and answer them. Amethyst just turned red and stared down at the book as Aven acknowledged the fact that Amethyst had no idea what this page's point was. Whati t was getting at, or even what it meant! For heaven's sake why couldn't russian be easier? No... it wasn't like she could go to Russia and complain that their language was stupid and pointless. English was so much easier.
"Not... really. Kind of." Amethyst admitted sadly, chewing on her lip as she looked at it. It was so complicated! As Aven asked the question, she nodded. "Piano." The word was rather blunt. "So that's why the have the book!" She laughed. "That club sounds rather interesting. With music and all. M-music is so nice... and relaxing." Ammy said happily, flipping through the pages of the russian book, trying to practice figuring out the words quickly.

∞ ∞ Rest in peace with my sorrows Or are you my greatest war? "I do make a practice of trying to be nice to people I don't know." Aven smiled slightly at the other girl. Why would she be nervous around someone like her? She was on the chubby side, had an open, earnest face, and usually greeted a passerby with a smile. A pushover, Aven told herself, was what she looked like. A soft snort of amusement left her, and she looked down at her hands, clasping them on the tabletop. Best not to appear too wrapped up in her own thoughts.
"Piano? That's wonderful. I myself can't play too well, though I've been trying to learn. Mother always had such a talent with the keys of a piano. I'm limited to string instruments, mostly, but I play French Horn as well. It's..." Here, the Russian paused, blinking slightly as an idea struck her, "Hey! I don't suppose you'd actually want to join the classical music club, would you? There's an amazing piece by Astor Piazzolla for piano and cello that I've been dying to try out. It would be awesome to audition for the club together." She grinned brightly at Amethyst; the one thing that got Aven talking and excited was music. It could bring light to her darkest day, and it often did.
"Oh, it's been so long since I've heard pianino and violonchelʹ together. Of course, piano goes with just about everything, but it sounds especially wonderful with the cello." Aven rambled again, that same bright, but silly grin on her face as she handled the book in her hands eagerly.
She didn't think she'd been this friendly with anyone since she'd moved here.NOTES: Hurk. Not one of my best posts, but YAAAY new template for Aven! You would not believe your eyes, If ten million fireflies Lit up the world as I fell asleep
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - "Then I'll make a practice of t-trying to stay calm while meeting new people?" Amethyst laughed quietly, and ceased when the librarian shot her a dirty look. She was a petite, skinny girl, with frail bones and a small face. She was not curvy at all, more like straight like a stick. Ammy ran her fingers through her hair as she slowly figured out the first page of the Russian book. Slowly, but surely. It was a nice book. It went over the basics of the history, then going into detail about later in the book, which was what she liked. Amethyst was very interested in books. More importantly, she loved learning. Just... when it got too hard she was known to give up.
As Aven suggested the idea, Ammy's heart raced inside her. Her blue eyes widened as she stared. Did she really just ask that? Did she really want Amethyst as a partner? The stuttered, nervous freak that everyone laughed at? The only people she was ever smooth with was the Host Club, since they seemed to make her feel special... like every girl. Which wasn't special. But it didn't seem like that when they were talking directly to you. Amethyst nodded vigerously at the girl before her. "R-r-really?!" She stuttered with excitement. "Of-of-of course! I would love to join and... and help you!" Ammy grinned.
She rambled on about the piece and the brown haired girl just grinned wider. "I'll definately do any piece with you, I'll just have to learn it first. But I won't let you down, I promise!" Amethyst was blushing red, she was so excited! She had never done a piece with anyone before! Not in her life, she'd always done it alone. "I haven't been this excited since I first saw my little sister, Bara learn the piano almost... six years ago?" She was like a little child, almost bouncing in her seat with such excitement! Amethyst would have loved to do a piece with her!

∞ ∞ Rest in peace with my sorrows Or are you my greatest war? A broad grin to match Amethyst's spread over Aven's face. Holy mother of condensed milk, she needed to quit being so bubbly. Maybe it was a side effect of being around the other girl? Whatever the case was, she was bound to hurt herself if she kept on like this, all cheery and smiling. Coughing to clear her throat slightly, the Russian flicked her bangs out of her face as Amethyst turned back to puzzling out the page of Russian.
"Well, yes, I wouldn't ask if I didn't want you to. It's against my convictions." Aven explained away, lifting a hand to itch at the back of her head casually. She really was glad that the other girl had shown such excitement at the prospect of auditioning with her, and they had plenty of time to learn the piece, but since when did she go around asking random strangers - okay, maybe Amethyst wasn't a random stranger anymore - to play music with her? For now, Aven would blame Japan.
Stupid Japan.
"I'm glad. I'll get a copy of the piano part to you soon, then. The auditions are on the twenty-third of next month." She explained, "We'll have plenty of time to make any changes we need to." She smiled slightly and lowered her gaze back to the lone book in front of her. Internally, she hoped the girl was at proficient at playing, but why wouldn't she be? The music club was almost as prestigious as the Host Club she'd heard everyone going on and on about. Blinking, she looked back up at Amethyst.
"Also, what's this...uh...Host Club everyone's always talking about? I hear about it everywhere I go, it seems. Mostly from squealing girls..." She queried, dark green eyes studying Amethyst's face gently.
Couldn't hurt to ask the other about what she didn't know about the academy. You would not believe your eyes, If ten million fireflies Lit up the world as I fell asleep
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Amethyst was very happy to get to audition with this nice girl. She had doubts, fears, and stage-fright all in the back of her mind but she pushed them as far back as possible. She didn't need those right now. Amethyst had to be brave. Brave. That meant shutting up, quit stuttering, and look good. Because she had to do good for Aven. She wanted Aven to get into that club. More than anything! Aven was her friend now, and Amethyst wanted what her friend wanted. So she would do anything it took to get her friend into that music club. And Amethyst would be happy to go in with her, after all, Ammy loved music. Music was a great way to express herself.
"Sounds great!" She spoke, taking a deep breath before speaking, and speaking a little slower than usual. That was her, trying not to stutter like an idiot. Amethyst flicked her side bangs out of her face as she grinned widely. "I would love to be a p-part of the music club. Sounds fun, everyone r-raves about it too." Once again, Ammy forgot to breath before speaking, letting her excitement get the best of her, but she didn't pay attention anymore. Aven would just have to take her like she was or not at all. Ammy was an awkward, shy, crazy girl. She was mostly shy with other girls. She could actually control herself around males. Strange. Yes.
As Aven asked about the Host Club, Amethyst was jolted back to a couple days ago, when she met Kyoya. Her heart skipped a beat. Yes, all girls loved the Host Club, as did Amethsyt. Kyoya was her favorite and it had been an honor to meet him. "A group of young men who flirt with girls mostly. They revolve around making girls feel special and loved, and they make events and such. Mostly all girls love them." Amethyst smiled, hiding her emotions. But her eyes had a distant, dreamy look to the as she thought of them all. Funny, even the shyest, most awkward girls loved the Host Club. Not just the rich, bubbly, beautiful ones. But then again, it's hard not to love them.

∞ ∞ Rest in peace with my sorrows Or are you my greatest war? Hopefully, and sometime soon, Amethyst would get over that stuttering thing of hers. Aven reached up to scratch at the back of her head, green eyes flicking around for the paranoid librarian. Nowhere in sight.
Stretching her arms out behind her head, the dark-haired Russian crossed her legs at the ankles and slumped down in her chair, adopting a more casual pose. Maybe that would get the other girl to relax.
"I've got to say, I'm thankful I've found someone here who isn't quite as...snobby as everyone seems to be. If I would have asked this of anyone else, even if they had bothered to come sit with me, they probably would have scoffed and said they were already in the music club, of course!" She waved her hand in an exaggerated fashion and adopted a silly accent - sillier than her own - to illustrate her point, snorting at her own speech. Giving another look around, she took another forbidden sip from her water bottle, smug that she hadn't gotten caught yet. As Amethyst explained exactly what the Host Club was, she screwed the top back on and frowned.
"That's...cool...I guess." Aven scrunched up her face slightly; it was a little pointless, but if the academy allowed it, then there must have been something special going on. Amethyst's far and away look told her all she needed to know.
"Well...it'd certainly be something to pass the time, I would imagine. You seem to fancy them, at least." She grinned across at the other girl, fiddling with the sleeves of her uniform. Did they have to be in long-sleeved dresses all the time? It was spring, for God's sake!
Checking herself, Aven closed the book before her gently, hefting it up and getting up to take it back to its proper place on a shelf, which wasn't too far from where they were sitting, so she struck up talking again.
"Do you know any place there's a piano we can practice with? All the music rooms have been occupied when I've gone to check, but I can haul my cello anywhere." She started distractedly, browsing the shelf for the proper alphabetical place for the book. Something that must be dealt with day by day, and maybe on one of those days, it wouldn't be a problem. But until then, Amethyst had to remind herself that she couldn't get over it... over night. The small-boned, brown haired girl looked up and grinned. "I'm just as lucky." It was a sweet giggle that slipped from her mouth as she turned slightly pink from embarrassment. "A-after all, they all seem to busy to even stop here and read. With the Host Club and all. They revolve around those boys. It's how the H-Host Club makes money." The words were slightly bitter. Even though Amethyst admired them from afar, she had never, ever spent even a penny there.
"You guess." She repeated the words with a slight twinkle in her eyes. Ammy couldn't help but smile at the rather blunt statement. She could see why Aven didn't like them though and she didn't try and defend them. They probably deserved as many haters as they did lovers and that was just the way it went. Amethyst wrinkled her nose slightly, as Aven guessed. "It's hard not to. I don't fancy all of them but ah... I met Kyoya... at the market." Her cheeks grew red. "And he was really sweet. But he's also the co-owner of the Host Club, and to be honest, I hadn't expected him to be as nice as he was."
The words were quiet, as she stared at her pale hands. True, she fancied him... and all of them. But she never admitted it. She had never said anything close to the words she had just said. Weird, how she'd opened up to Aven like that. But Amethyst said no more. As Aven got up and spoke once more, the girl had an idea. And a devious look passed through her eyes, but she quickly hid it. Amethyst took the risk, even if Aven did know Music Room Three. "What about Music Room Three?" If Aven did know, she might try and convince her to meet the Host Club, so they could joke later on about how odd the bunch were. But Amethyst kind of wanted a glimpse of Kyoya.

∞ ∞ Rest in peace with my sorrows Or are you my greatest war? Tapping her fingers along the spine of the volume, Aven searched the shelf high and low for its place, a little put off when she couldn't find it right away.
"Hmm...Music Room Three. Sounds good. When would you like to meet up? I'm free every day after school, but not on the weekends, since I have to work..." She scrunched up her face slightly at the word 'work', hoping the other girl wasn't really a snot - she didn't seem like one - and judged her for having a job to pass the time. Eyes flicking to the end of the aisle, she resisted the urge to snicker; the librarian stalked past the gap between bookshelves like a character she'd seen in a horror film. It was...kind of creepy, actually. Finally finding the book's proper place and sliding it home, she skittered back to the table.
"She scares the living daylights out of me..." She murmured at Amethyst, throwing her traditional lopsided grin across at the other girl as the hawk-like bookkeeper went past their table again.
Pretending to reach over and point something out to Amethyst in teh book she had, Aven snorted and leaned back once the woman had disappeared again.
"So, what do you say, friends?"
The Russian certainly hadn't counted on making any friends so early into her days in Japan, but here she was, setting up rehearsal times and calling the other girl a friend.
Weird.
Maybe Japan wasn't so bad, after all?
...Nah, it was still pretty bad, but now, it just didn't seem quite as bad as it had been previously to Aven.
Originally from the heart of Russia, the dark-haired girl had been under quite the culture shock when she'd first come here, but her experienced uncle had calmly walked her through most of what she'd needed to know, and now, she was moderately comfortable dealing with every day life. Of course, her job in the market down the street from her plush apartment building had also aided her in familiarizing herself with the day-to-day features of Japanese life.
She was even considering staying for the holidays. So many words that I can't always tell you Do they live on in my head, and could my head steal my soul?
