{Drench yourself in words unspoken}Live your life with arms wide open Large brown eyes peeked around the slightly open door, searching to see if the 2nd music room was free. The girl, Ariana was her name, had already checked to see if the other music room was free and found it to be full of other students that only talked and did nothing more. And the girl, clueless about most everything else about this school she had recently moved to, already knew that the 3rd music room was the sight of the famous Ouran Host Club. Though it was full of beautiful men that other girls her age fawned over, she herself didn't feel comfortable around them. Maybe it was because she hadn't yet made any friends, as all the other students tended to just be snobs who ignored her, seeing her as annoying. But, you can't help what people think about you, nor can you help them with their superior attitudes. It was after this that Ariana grew to ignore the rude behaviors of the rich and spoiled. However, this didn't stop her from still trying to make friends.
Noticing that she had been standing there for over a minute, doing nothing, she shook herself from her thoughts and actually observed the room, noticing that it was surprisingly empty. With a smile, the girl entered the room, walking across it and observing it, her large brown eyes falling on the grand piano in a corner of the room. The sight almost took her breath away. It was a marvelous grand piano, obviously expensive and very well kept. It's body was a pure ebony that gleamed in the sunlight that streamed in through the large windows on the other side of the room. It's was closed, hiding its beautiful ivory keys from sight as a plush looking bench sat in front of it, inviting anyone to come and play the beautiful instrument. Without a second thought, Ariana dropped her school bag off to the side by the door and made her way over towards the piano.
She sat down on the cushioned bench, feeling herself sink into the soft material. It really was as comfortable as it looked. Opening the lid, she laid her fingers gently onto the slick keys, running her fingers over the familiar grooves of separation. Even though she hadn't played in so long, since she had to move and everything, she didn't know how well everything was going to go, but she knew that she wanted to do only two things right now; sing and play the piano. Both happened to be two things she never did in front of any other person, not even her parents. Ariana, though bubbly and happy, didn't have any confidence in her playing and singing skills. She loved both of them, but she just couldn't do it while other people where around. So, that's why it was so perfect that nobody was here when she came.
With a large smile on her face, the girl started to think of what songs she could sing. She had a large variety to choose from, but many of them she just didn't feel like playing at the moment; it had to be a song that just sounded right at the moment. Kind of like when you want to watch a movie and some of your favorites just don't seem to stick in your mind and make you want to watch them. Finally, she choose a song, a sad song that reminded her of home. The beautiful, full sounds of the piano filled the room for several seconds before her voice began to accompany it, the lyrics to The Beatles Let It Be rolling off her tongue. Her voice held a sad ring to it as mind drifted to her home in the States, thinking of her friends. The song held great meaning to her, a sad and painful truth.
It was the song that the schools chorus had sang for her friend after her mother had passed. It was heartbreaking moment, listening to the best female vocalist sing the song with the same sad tone as the others of the choir sang back up. It gave you chills and took your breath away as you tried so hard to hold back the tears as you saw the family cry. It had also been a part of the choirs show, most likely added afterwards and it still effected all those who knew the girl and her family. It was a moment that she would never forget and a song that still caused her choke up. Her voice even became a bit thick as she sang the song, trying not to cry. he really missed her friends and wished she could be there to comfort them. Finally the song ended and Ariana removed her slender hands from the keys, taking a deep breath to regain control over her emotions. After she felt better, she moved over towards the door to gather her things, getting ready to leave.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The music pounded loudly in her ears, blocking out the noise of the other students in the hallway. If she had pockets then her hands would have been shoved into them as she walked, but alas the yellow cupcake dresses of Ouran Academy had no pockets and she wasn't wearing jeans. Instead, one hand was hooked under the shoulder strap of her bag and the other was clinging to the small mp3 player that it was holding. The hallways began to slowly empty and Kazumi opened the door to one of the many libraries that was in the school, and it was no surprise that it was full of chatty students who weren't even using the library for what it was meant to be used for. Studying. Not that any of the teachers cared. After all, this was a school where all of the elite members of Japan sent their children and we wouldn't want to anger them now would we? Therefore, none of the teachers told the students how they should behave in class and Kazumi left, slightly annoyed.
She needed a quiet place to read her book for her literature class since when she was home the only thing her mother wanted to do was talk about her day...even while it was obvious that her daughter was attempting to get her homework done. She wasn't sure why, but lately that woman had been increasingly bothersome and a lot more clingy than normal. After Kazumi's brother left she instantly began clinging to her daughter more, but now...now it was more annoying than it had been before. Her bag vibrated against her leg and she dropped her hand, fishing around in one of the pockets until her fingers found her phone. What a surprise, it was a text from her mother asking if she was coming home or staying at the school. Stopping, Kazumi typed out a response before looking back up.
"Now where the hell am I?" she asked herself, looking up. The sign caught her eye. Music Room 3. Oh hell no was her only thought. Everyone knew who and what lied in wait in Music Room 3, and she was not about to go wandering in that room. In fact...she'd probably never go wandering into that room as long as she was at this school. But the music room gave her an idea. The other music rooms were usually empty, and empty meant quiet, which is exactly what she needed. A small smile on her face, Kazumi began turning the volume down on her music player and found the second music room. Hopefully it would be empty, otherwise she would have to go find the first music room. Pulling an earbud from one ear, she caught the sound of a piano and someone singing and paused.
It seemed that she had caught the ending because in only a few moments the song was ending. Interested, Kazumi turned her own music off and put it away before opening the door and looking around. She was confused because no one was there and then she heard the rustling by the door. Looking down, Kazumi saw a orange haired girl grabbing her stuff and she asked, "excuse me, but was that you playing?"

{Drench yourself in words unspoken}Live your life with arms wide open Slender fingers picked through a bag that currently lay on the floor, forgotten only for but a few minutes as its owner divulged herself by playing on the marvelous grand piano, searching for nothing in particular at the moment. At the current time, the young girl was only checking to make sure that she had everything that she required for the daily dosage that was handed to her class. There was one difference between the unruly teens in the second year class and Ariana, though. She, along with but a handful of the others, actually did the assigned tasks. Sure, she hated homework with a fiery passion like every other teenager forced to sacrifice their free time. In fact, detested was a more suitable word for her hate of it. But, unlike most of the other Ouran Academy attenders, she had no wish of following her family into the business of jewels. Hell, she didn't even know how that was such a wealthy job! She wanted to help people. That's all she wanted to do.
She still had her mind open to all kinds of options, but the position of a doctor was what currently held the highest position on her list. It pulled on her, the need to help people. It was hard to simply ignore someone when they were injured because you knew that you could nothing to help them when that yearning to help save somebody and feel like you were doing something good in the world; it was a deep wish that she held with all her heart. Of course, this wasn't something she could tell her parents just yet. Not when they wanted so badly for her to follow in there footsteps and continue the family business. Of course, when did they ever actually consider what their daughter wanted to do? They never really saw her as anything more than a future replacement to the life they led, no matter how dull and lifeless that life was. They wouldn't be able to see the empty shell of her former self if she followed them in the business; not that they truly saw her to begin with. No, she couldn't tell them her wishes and desires just yet. All she could do was do her work, keep quiet, and wait for the moment that she could actually reveal her one wish to the ones she called parents.
So deep was the young girl in her thoughts, her mind wandering down an endless path of thought and questions, that she did not notice that the door had opened several minutes ago. No, it wasn't until a distinctly feminine voice sounded next to her that Ariana discovered that she was no longer alone. With a jump, Ariana looked up with a startled expression to see another girl, wearing the similar yellow puff dress. The girl, who looked to be no more than but a few months older than she, seemed to have asked a question that was directed towards Ariana. It obviously was, for there was no other living being in the room. After a moments hesitation in responding to unknown female, for she had to take that moment to think of what the girl had asked her while she was off in thought, she finally answered. But, she was not happy with the answer that was to be given.
Yes, that was me, Ariana said in a slightly dejected tone. She had not wanted anybody to ever hear her sing. Despite the way she acted all happy and such, she had little self-confidence in her abilities in the music department. Growing up with parents that cared little for what you did and not being around children her own age until she turned 11 didn't do much for building one's self-confidence. And so, she was hoping that the girl wouldn't say anything to harsh to her as she told her that her voice had sounded terrible and that her piano playing was less than perfection (as perfection was expected here in the world of the rich and beautiful). She knew she had missed a few notes while playing and such, but she really hoped that the other girl didn't let her down to horribly. Excuse me, but could you please not tell anybody that you heard me? I'm not very good, so I really wouldn't like to be made fun of when I just got here, Ariana said with a sad tone of voice, looking down at her feet as if they were so interesting right now.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Kazumi blinked down at the orange haired for a moment, confusion plainly evident in her dark eyes. It wasn't that she hadn't been expecting anyone in the music room, though that had been her hope until she had heard the piano playing, but more from the fact that the girl had a surprisingly dejected tone in her voice. As far as Kazumi was concerned, if you were good at something you should be proud of it, no matter if people heard or saw you. Obviously she knew that not everyone thought that way, or thought that you should think that way. After all, humility was supposedly something that every person should have in their personality, but still, one should be able to feel pride.
She opened her mouth to ask what was with the dejected tone when the girl was speaking again, so Kazumi promptly closed her mouth and leaned against the door, resting heavily on her right foot. "I'm not very good, so I really wouldn't like to be made fun of when I just got here." The words made Kazumi frown, and not just a light frown either. The corners of her mouth turned down and her eyebrows furrowed together, causing lines to appear along her forehead. Confusion was mixed with this frown, still apparent in her eyes and she blinked a few times. Kazumi had never been very good with words of encouragement or being nice and was generally a very blunt person. Sometimes to the point of being considered rude.
"You don't think you're very good? Why? Because someone told you that?" It wasn't said flat out, but while she had only heard the end of whatever the girl was playing, Kazumi thought she was good, and she was positive that if she had heard the entire thing then she'd think she was better than good. The short haired teenager hoped that her thoughts were somewhat implied in the way she had asked her question, though since blunt was usually the way she went, Kazumi wasn't the best with implying anything.

{Drench yourself in words unspoken}Live your life with arms wide open Sadness flitted through usually warm grey eyes as the unknown girl spoke, speaking with nothing but a flat tone. Of course the girl would be rather mean and show no emotion in her voice as she answered her request, most likely belittling her for even trying to stop her from spreading rumor. After all, this was the way that most other rich girls that were even remotely close to her age that Ariana had met in her short lifetime. None of them had ever even tried to get to know her, always looking down upon her being American born. Especially with such an odd hair and eye combination. I mean, who had orange hair and grey eyes? But, she had always taken it with good thoughts, telling herself that they were just like that because they were as nervous as she, telling herself that things would get better. But, unfortunately for her, they never did.
It was with these thoughts that Ariana lowered her head even more towards the ground in shame and sadness, her orange locks cascading ever closer towards the pristinely clean floors and her eyes even beginning to mist over ever so slightly, all of this taking place in only mere seconds. However, it was just after these few seconds that Ariana's sometimes slow moving brain began to decipher what exactly that girl had said to her. And it was after this that the girl's eyes filled with surprise, any and all traces of sadness being wiped clean. Her head shoot up soon after her thoughts had finished deciphering, her strangely colored locking flipping back as she moved fast enough to almost give her whiplash. Had the girl just said what she thought she had said? That she was good? Well, I mean, she didn't exactly say anything entirely encouraging. However, she had more implied it in her speech.
It had come as a surprise, to say the least, to poor Ariana. From the tone of the girl, she had naturally assumed that she had either made fun of her or that she was telling her off for ever asking anything of the sort to her royal and high up self. Well, you know what they say. Never assume because it just makes an arse out of you and me. It was then that Ariana offered her a small smile, the only one she'd smiled in several minutes and it was nothing like her regular smile (which was weird because she was constantly smiling). She thought for a moment on how to reply to the girl's inquiry without sounding like a depressed little Eeyore, whining about their horrible life and basically saying they had no friend. Which was true. But, she wasn't a depressed little person who complained to no end about how horrible her life was. Her life wasn't even that bad. Sure, her relationship with her parents wasn't all that great, due to the fact that neither of them ever payed her any mind, but it could be worse. Much worse, in fact.
So, with much thought put into her reply for the girl, Ariana finally decided to speak, answering the girl's questions.Well, not exactly. It isn't that somebody told me that I was a bad singer or player. It's just that nobody ever really told me I was any good. My parents weren't around a lot to hear me and whenever I tried to play for them when I was younger, they would just say 'that's nice' and continue on with their work, not even having paid any attention to me. So, I never let anybody hear me play. The only person who has heard me was my piano teacher. You're, like, the only other person, Ariana said, a sad smile occupying her features, only to be wiped away by her following statement. I guess that automatically makes us friends, ne, she said jokingly. Well, even if it was a joke, she was going to use this opportunity to make a new friend. Or at least try. My name is Ariana Valentine. It's nice to meet you!
