Lijuan is, surprisingly, very skilled in martial arts. However, her disability does pose a problem. For one, she is only skilled with close-range combat. In other words, she has to be in the person's face and usually have some physical contact. While fighting Li can usually be seen grabbing her opponent, pressing her arm against her opponent's torso, or something of that fashion. This is done because it helps her feel movements and she can often use her opponent's strength against them. Being so close, there are many openings for Li. She can find a way to knock her opponent off balance, or hit the sensitive spots on the body. There are disadvantages, of course (in Weaknesses).

MUSIC / GUITAR

Well, with her good sense of hearing, she's pretty good with music. Now, she can't sing, she just doesn't have the voice for it (which is surprising, because when she talks her voice sounds so cute). However, she is good with instruments. To be honest, Li doesn't really enjoy playing instruments. She loves music and listening to music, but she finds little pleasure in playing instruments. On the other hand, if she feels like she needs a calm moment, then she'll pick up the guitar and play. She finds that creating music, whether re-creating an already made song or making up her own, is very soothing and relaxing.

PERCEPTIVE

Since Lijuan does not associate with the world using site, her other senses kick in. She tells people apart by their voices mainly, sometimes by smell as well. Sometimes she can get an impression of someone's personality or current emotion by how they sound, how they phrase sentences, when their voice hits a certain pitch, etc. Obviously, she's not like spot on or anything. It's the same as someone trying to guess a person's personality by what they wear or guess what someone if feeling by their facial expressions. She's pretty good at identifying sounds to other things - doors closing, etc. And she can identify foods and other things by smells.

GOOD DIRECTION / JUDGING DISTANCE

It's sort of necessary, but she has a great sense of direction. Lijuan kind of has a mental map of every place she's been to. Once she walks through a building, she remembers every turn and how many steps to take to reach said turn. She's even good at knowing which was is North, South, etc. at almost any given time. Li also has a talent for judging distance, as long as she has traveled said distance. Even when sitting in a car she given a rough, but usually pretty accurate, distance of how far the car has traveled, sometimes how far each street is. She's not as good at judging distance by car, since speed plays a factor, but her near-accuracy is still a talent. People might sometimes worry about the little blind girl getting lost, but truth be told, she can retrace her steps better than anyone.

SARCASM / TAUNTING

Don't start with her! Lijuan is the queen of smack talk. She can pull insults right out of thin air. Her wit isn't very smooth or "cool", but it is wit, which is more than other people have. Sometimes she'll come up with nicknames for people, usually they are kind of insulting. For friends, of course, said nicknames aren't insulting in a mean way. Aside from that, she does enjoy taunting people. Occasionally getting a rise out of someone with her sarcasm amuses her, and she's pretty good at it.[/ul]

Well, duh. She can't see, therefore can're read or write. She can read books for the blind, though just barely, so she prefers tapes. Li can't see or match clothes, though she has tags that tell her which shirt is which shirt. In martial arts her blindness hinders her the most. The biggest way it hinders her is by forcing her to take opponents one at a time. Li may be able to take on two opponents, but with much difficulty. Unless she is directly touching her opponent, she can't see attacks coming (duh), so she normally has to take a hit or two in order to get close.

NOT BOOK-SMART

While Lijuan is perceptive and, in her own way, witty, she's definitely not intelligent. Not in the studious way, at least. Mostly she is just bored easily of most subjects, so it takes her longer than necessary to understand some things. Some people may place the blame on her disability, but to be honest, her blindness has nothing to do with it. She just plain and simply bores easily when it comes to her studies and has a tendency to be lazy. Li just cares about passing, not how high her grades are.

PEOPLE SKILLS

Okay, her people skills aren't so poor that she's like that weird kid in the back of the class that gets twitchy every time someone just looks at him. Lijuan is surprisingly good at proper manners and the like. Obviously, she was brought up with such teachings. Her poor people skills fall in with her casual-meetings. Just...friends, students at school, etc. Normally she's fine, it's not like she's socially awkward or anything. But Lijuan has difficulty with understanding friendship, mostly due to being sheltered. She has a tendency to boss people around instead of making requests, being too blunt and too honest, assuming kindness comes from pity instead of true kindness, making blind jokes (normally fine, but sometimes people think she's being serious and get uncomfortable), etc. She's pretty confrontational, too. Li isn't the type to go out an pick fights, but if someone confronts her she's eager to step up to the challenge.

COMPETITIVE / OVER COFIDENT

Lijuan cannot resist a challenge. No matter what the challenge is, she'll take it. She's prone to betting, too. Being as over-confident as she is, she'll accept any challenge readily. Sometimes she's a sore loser, scowling or pouting or storming off, but other times she'll take it all in good stride. It depends on who challenged her and what the challenge is, really.[/ul]

Lijuan is terrified of going underwater. The reason is because she can't hear, smell, or even feel anything, so she's basically robbed of all her senses.

BEING HELPLESS

Although she's blind, Lijuan thinks of herself as very capable. So the idea of being helpless just frightens her. It's more the humiliation of being helpless that she's afraid of, even though, rationally, there is nothing to be humiliated about.[/ul]

Lijuan normally acts like she can't stand her family and would much rather jump into an active volcano than live another day in the estate. Truth be told, she really does love her family, even her brother, and she's not entirely sure if she could hurt them by running away.

INSECURE

She would never, ever, ever, ever say this to anyone unless she really, really trusted them, but she's pretty insecure about how she looks. Since she's blind she obviously can't tell, and while she's been told many times that she looks cute, she worries about things like her eyes. Li has heard that blind eyes can sometimes look creepy, so she wonders if maybe the case is the same for her.[/ul]
